chapter 6: gross coffee

"i don't even like coffee." stated mel as she walked threw the door of the coffee shoppe jack was holding open for her.

"then why did you ask to go out for coffee?"

"coffee places have more options than just coffee you know? it's just a term people use, 'hey you wanna go out for coffee?'" she lowered her voice as if imitating somebody else. jack laughed at her silly action.

it had been two days since the two met and ever since the first encounter the two awkward teens really hit it off. they had the same taste in music, both liked the same shows and movies and even liked the same food, (ice cream obviously).

"next." the female cashier called out. jack let mel walk in front of him.

"hi what can i get you today?" the worker asked mel.

"hi, can i just get a regular black tea."

"any sweetener?"

"no thanks."

"is that all?"

"uh nope." jack says in a quieter voice and slightly steps in front of mel. "hey can i get a regular iced black coffee?" the cashier nodded with a smile and typed the order. mel made an extremely grossed out face at jacks order.

"okay that will be $11.68."

jack reached into his back pocket as mel reached into her bag. he grabbed his wallet and mel looked up at him confused, seeing he grabbed more money than hi drink cost.

"i got my own, jack." she said quietly.

he shake his head, "i want to." she furrowed her brows.

"i'm the one that dragged you here"

"i wanted to come with you." he knew mel was thinking of what to say in defense so he handed the money to the cashier and got the change.

"jack. you didn't need to do that." mel says as the two teens walked to a table in the corner of the cafè.

"mel." jack said pulling out her seat for her and then sitting down in his own.

"wow look at you being such a gentleman." she giggled.

he shrugged lifting his arms, "what can i say."

"by the way, how the fuck do you drink straight ice black coffee? just wondering." she smiled.

jack looked utterly offended, "you drink black tea."

"black coffee taste like the devils ass, black tea taste like what a princess would drink."

"ouch."

"it's not an opinion, it's a fact." they both laughed.

"for jack and mel?" a male waiter set down their glasses in the spots.

"thanks." mel smiles at him.

"yeah thank you." jack smiles also as the man walks away.

as jack takes a sip of his coffee mel makes a gagging noise. "okay, if i knew you were going to bully me on my drink opinions then i wouldn't have driven you here." she giggles at his comment.

"fine, fine. at least you didn't order something like a decaf carmel frappuccino or some shit like that." mel says as the takes a drink from her bitter drink.

"for a girl like you, you sure swear a lot." jack takes another drink.

"what do you mean 'girl like you'?"

"you're a pretty actress who says she likes tea because it sounds like a princess would drink it."

"awe you think i'm pretty." she drinks her tea again and giggles.

jack knew it was a joke to her but he blushed at the comment.

obviously he thinks she's pretty, a lot of people would but he didn't just think she was pretty, he thought she was beautiful, everything about her was beautiful to him.

"can i take a pic of you?" she asks.

"why?" he laughed.

"it's for my mom. she wants to know what's up." (my mom actually does this haha)

"uh sure." he grabs his cup and holds it with his pinkie up. she laughed and sits up a bit while snapping the picture.

"cute." she says making him blush more. as you can see, he blushes easily.

she showed him the picture.

"the higher the pinkie, the fancier you are." mel says.

"is that a spongebob quote?"

"yeah, nice job getting all my references." she winks.
