Y/N's POV:
As I completed the formation lap and sat myself in 7th place. It was time for the Spanish Grand Prix. I took a deep breath in my crash helmet, for some reason I felt really nervous for the race. I hadn't felt confident or comfortable in the car at all this weekend, I don't know why, it was just one of those feelings. I quickly glanced over to the right and saw Daniel hanging over my pit box, he gave me a thumbs up and a smile.
Daniel's POV:
She looked so nervous, she even said to me earlier that she wasn't looking forward to racing, I have no idea why, she was so strong in qualifying.
The lights went out and Y/N had an average start, staying in seventh through the first turn. She lost a position easily going into turn three. Which is odd, she never gives up a place without a fight, but she gave that away.
Three laps in and Y/N's lies in ninth. Going down the straight she had Antonio Fuoco slipstreaming her. Y/N doesn't defend and Fuoco goes up the inside. He misses his breaking point, locks up and smashes his car into the side of hers. My heart sinks as I watch debris and two cars going off the track, hitting the crash barriers at speed. As the yellow flags wave and the gravel dust clears I see Antonio has got himself out and is walking away, but Y/N, she hasn't moved.
All I could do was watch her team's screens as doctors and marshals surround her. They red flag the race. That's never a good sign. I began to pace up and down the small area I had to watch my girl. I just wanted to run on track and help.
After a very long 15 minutes, with the cameras focusing on other things for good reason, this could be serious. Oh god I hope not.
I get told by one of her team members that she's been stretchered out of the car and taken straight to hospital. I need to get there, now.
I arrived at the hospital and rushed straight to the front desk. The lady at reception spoke very good English and was able to direct me straight to my girl, I mean Y/N.
'Can I help you?' A doctor says to me as I look through the window to see a very bruised Y/N.
'Is she okay?' I ask, turning to face the doctor.
'Are you family? Boyfriend?'
I sighed, what do I say? Should I say yes? I suppose I better not, Y/N will hate me. 'No, just a close friend, but please tell me, I need to know she's okay'
The doctor looked around, 'come and sit down a minute' he said.
My stomach dropped and my heart skipped a beat, that doesn't sound good.
'She's going to be fine' he began, 'She's got bruised ribs, a broken wrist and a small concussion'
I felt a tear come to my eye, I'm crying over something that could've been a lot worse. But it's still Y/N who's hurt.
'When can I go in and see her?'
'She's still unconscious at the moment, that'll be the pain relief' he smiled reassuringly, 'but you can go in now, she'll wake up shortly'
He didn't have to tell me twice. I opened the door to her room and entered quietly. All I could hear was the heartbeat machines and Y/N breathing.
I smiled sadly at the sleeping body in front of me. Sitting down next to her I held her right hand, her left hand was wrapped up neatly in a cast. Her face had a few bruises and I can't imagine how bruised she'd look under this gown.
An hour passed and Y/N still hadn't woken up. I had my head resting on the edge of her bed, my hand still holding hers. I started to feel myself drift off to sleep when I felt her grip my hand slightly. I looked up and saw her eyes flutter. I stood up and stroked her face.
'Hello you' I whispered quietly, she turned her neck gently and looked at me with her red eyes.
'Hey' she muffled, squeezing my hand more. My cheeks were hurting I couldn't smile more. 'I'm going to get the doctor okay, I'll be back' I smiled and left the room.
'Do you know where you are?'
'Hospital'
'Do you know your name?'
'Y/N'
'What month are we in?'
'May'
I watched the doctor ask questions as he shined a light in her eyes. 'Perfect' He said standing away from the bed.
'Is everything okay?' I asked.
'Everything is fine, she'll be able to be discharged in a few days, got to let her ribs heal before she flies anywhere though' he smiled, nodding his head.
'I'll look after her' I smiled, rubbing my hand up and down her arm gently. The doctor smiled again and left the room.
'You didn't have to come and visit me' she said, clearing her throat.
'Are you serious? Of course I had to' I frowned.
'Well I owe you one' she giggled, grunting afterwards due to it probably hurting her ribs.
I just shook my head. Why is she so negative about herself? How can she not see how amazing she really is?
'Do you want to watch a film or something?' I asked.
'On what tele Daniel?' she looked around smiling. I put my hand in my pocket and pulled out my phone and showed it to her.
'Smart arse' she winked. 'But how are both of us going to see that tiny screen?'
I paused for a moment and took a deep breath. 'I'm sure I can squeeze myself in next to you' I blushed, grinning slightly.
'If you say so' she huffed, gently moving her delicate self over to one side of the bed. She didn't hate the idea, she didn't even flinch. I'm so happy right now.
Standing up from my seat and removing my shoes, I carefully slid myself in the bed next to her. My heart melted as I felt her cuddle up to me, her head resting just below my neck and her broken wrist resting on my stomach.
'You better pick a film then' I said, passing her my phone. She smiled as she picked one of her favourites. I didn't care what it was, I was cuddled up to her and that's all I really wanted. The girl I want snuggled up in my arms.
Twenty minutes into the film and I started to feel the weight on my chest get heavier, I looked over and saw Y/N drifting off to sleep. Her face cutely pressed up against my chest. I placed a kiss to the top of her head.
'I love you' I whispered.
Y/N's POV:
My eyes fluttered as I heard a whisper, did he just say what I thought he said?
