DATING
Asher and Sorrow were an unlikely pair. However, four months of dating enabled them to become fast friends.
Years of believing him to be a boring, stuffy individual proved wrong. Instead, he was both an interesting and knowledgeable person. The vast library of information held in his mind provided Asher and Sorrow with insightful conversations ranging from art and entertainment to law and politics.
He assured her that he'd always desired to engage in group events years ago. However, others encouraged him not to join them. Finally, he confided in Sorrow that extreme awkwardness and social insecurities made him an outcast, so he lost himself in books.
As they spent more time together, Sorrow came to see that Asher was an average everyday guy who craved affection just like anyone else.
From then on, they made plans to hang out together when time permitted. Sorrow took him out to do all the things he'd previously hoped to do but was too shy to share with others.
They went on a trip to the Six Flags Over Texas amusement park located in Arlington. Starting with a bit of taste of the shocks to come, they rode on the Texas SkyScreamer as it slowly ascended four hundred feet from the ground, flying them around in a circle until the swings descended back down. The outing ended with a ride on the MR. FREEZE Reverse Blast shooting the couple backward so fast they barely had a chance to catch their breaths before the rollercoaster shot them forward back the way they had come.
Listening to their mingled screams was the highlight of the day for Asher and Sorrow as they laughed like school kids long after they left the park.
Sorrow insisted he must attend some live games instead of watching them on TV, so she got them tickets to watch the Texas Rangers at the American Airlines Stadium. Since that was his favorite baseball team, Asher enjoyed the live experience. They shared hot dogs and beer as they chanted their approval of the show the team put on for their fans.
For several of the following weekends, Sorrow successfully convinced Asher to join her at a couple of Hip-Hop concerts at the Verizon Theatre in Grand Prairie. After finding out that he liked Country and Rock-n-Roll, she also took him to see acts by Def Leppard, Journey, Guns-n-Roses, Luke Bryan, and Rascal Flatts. Then, of course, Sorrow had to throw in a zinger to round out her eclectic taste in music. With that in mind, one weekend, they took in the Opera to be sure their southern sensibilities got a good healthy dose of culture.
The variety of entertainment she shared produced a permanent smile on his face. Nothing made Asher happier than spending time with Sorrow.
Dancing, movie outings, or trips to the Dallas Zoo gave her lots of opportunities to bring great fun into his life. Asher and Sorrow spent more time learning as much as possible at the Dallas Art Museum, Science Museum, and the Holocaust Museum together. She took note of his love for facts; he was thoroughly enthused by how eager she was to share those facts with him.
Sorrow allowed Asher to be himself, and she showed him what it was like to spend time with a true friend. Finally, the couple reached a point when they needed nothing else more than what they already shared.
Staying in, listening to music, conversing, cooking, and watching movies was enough.
Because there wasn't enough time in any given day for them to say all they wanted to say, Asher often forced himself to go to bed most nights. She respected that he prioritized the numerous crucial cases on his schedule. It showed his work ethic to be mindful of how sleep affected his ability to remain sharp at his job.
Asher was the most straight-laced guy Sorrow had ever dated. She appreciated his honesty and sincerity. Over time, she relied on their friendship more than ever because they trusted in one another.
