THE BIG DAY

The wind was blowing, and it was uncommonly warm for late winter. The brightness of the sun beamed everyone as they shielded their eyes. All the attendees commented on how beautiful the day was.

At the last minute, everything was set up outside thanks to the warm weather.

"Mom please stop fussing over me. You're making me more nervous than I already am. I feel like I might hyperventilate."

Sorrow was breathing too hard and too fast. All of her family members tried to calm her down as an aunt rushed off to grab some water for her.

Another person told her to lean back and rest for just a little bit,

"Girl calm down. You will scare that man to death if we have to rush you to the hospital." Her cousin Neffie made a lot of sense considering she was normally the crazy cousin.

"I wish I could find a successful attorney to marry." Her cousin Tabitha chimed in with several other women agreeing with her.

"Sorrow, honey, you have been blessed beyond measure. Just focus on how blessed you are and remember that you are carrying your husband's baby, so you need to calm down and make everything official before your bundle of joy gets here before you say I Do." Her aunt Mirena gave her a hug and forbid her from crying.

She couldn't understand where all the emotions were coming from. Sorrow and Asher had now been together for a little more than a year. Every day felt like they had been together for an eternity. She missed him even if he simply walked into the other room. To say that she loved him was not enough.

Sorrow adored Asher because he was more than her man; he was her best friend.

Every moment they spent together was full of joy, gentle, loving, playful, and trusting. Moment by moment was an adventure with him and she couldn't wait to see what each day held for them.

Thinking about their relationship and their love made it extremely difficult for her to keep in the tears of joy she had in her heart.

I refuse to mess up this make-up. I must be enchanting today. She spoke the words as if they were a mantra under her breath.

It was finally the day she waited for her entire life and she was marrying a man who cared for her more than she ever thought was possible. He was a man she admired and held in great esteem.

Sorrow and Asher spent their first day apart after seeing one another every day for the last eight months. The desire to see his face and hold him close was stronger than anything she'd ever craved before as she waited for the call signaling she could finally meet him down the aisle.

ANXIETY

Asher was a mess.

Of all the dangerous criminals he prosecuted, nothing scared him more than this day. He wasn't afraid to marry Sorrow. The anticipation and the wait to see her walk down the aisle was a torture he never experienced. He needed to see her face. He needed to hold her and feel her heartbeat next to him. He strongly objected when the family explained they would spend one day apart.
