"Kaden!  Can we slow down?  My feet are dead!"

"Feeling tired, (Y/N)?  I can always transform, and you could ride me."  I huffed.  I couldn't tell if he was being mischievous or was he actually offering me a ride.  Either way, I won't do it.  My pride wouldn't allow for it.

"Yes, I am tired, but I just need to rest.  You go too fast." He frowned as I sat down on the green grass.  He plopped down next to me and snuggled into my long hair.  I rolled my eyes and hugged him.  He made a little sound, telling me that he was pleased.  "Anyway, how much longer 'til we get to Nestia?"

"Maybe a day's walk?  We could get there by twilight if you ride me."

"No."

"But why?" he said in his whiny voice possible. He pulled at looked me in the eyes.

I sighed. "I don't want you doing all the work, and I can handle myself."

"You just don't want to be seen as a lazy person that's riding a kitsune."

"That's not the reason at all!"

Kaden laughed and went back to snuggling. "You're so cute when you're mad."

"Whatever you say." I ruffled his orange hair and leaned against him. I felt safe and happy which led to the world becoming darker as I fell asleep.

When I woke up, I found myself curled up in a ball. I stretched out. Then, I realized I was about to fall off of something: something soft and fluffy.

"Kaden!" I yelled.  He flinched and stopped abruptly.  I went flying off him.  Luckily for me, he transformed back into his human form and caught me.  I glared at him, and he just smirked.  Pulling me tighter, he chuckled.  I rolled my eyes and pushed away, trying to stand.  Instead of letting me go, he kissed my cheek and then, my lips.  His soft lips pushed gently with mine, and I gave in and kissed him back.

I pulled back and laughed. He smiled and wrapped my hair around his fingers. He finally then let me down.

I looked up at the sky which was now a vivid twilight, magic hour. I frowned thinking about how much farther we had to go until we reach Nestia.

"Hey, Kaden?"

"Yes, (Y/N)?"

"Can we stop here?"

"It's getting late, and I want to sleep under the stars."  He sighed, setting his bag down.  He was obviously disappointed that we weren't in Nestia, but he gave in.

"I guess we can if you really want to."  He kinda forced out the last four words.  I smirked and kissed him on the cheek.  The corners of his mouth rose, and I knew I had my way.  If there was something I was good at, it was working my way into his heart.

I grabbed my bag from Kaden and walked away from the road and into the nearby woods.  I looked back occasionally to see if he was still following me.  I finally stopped in a clearing where there was clear view of the sky.

I pulled my bedroll out of the bag and laid in on the ground like I had done the past two nights.  Kaden placed his right next to mine and then, went to get firewood.

For some reason, I felt nostalgic of the first time I met Kaden.  Maybe it was scent of fresh sap or the gentle breeze.  The birds chirping or the soft light of dusk?

"You okay, now?"

I opened my eyes to a idiotic-looking smile plastered on the face of a orange-haired boy.  He couldn't have been more than fifteen, roughly the same age as me.  I was on a bed in a small hut.  He was sitting in a chair next to me.
