The Power Of Shinobi (Naruto x Gaara)

Chapter Twenty-Three.

Naruto stands there for a moment. Shock filling him. Gaara stands there in panic. Hoping Naruto won't become angry...but then why would he be. I mean, it was him who went through with buying the charms. It wasn't just him alone.

"Woah...okay. Shocking ya' know?" Naruto speaks up after a moment of silence. Gaara lets out a sigh of relief. He was just stressing. He should know Naruto wouldn't do something like that. But he still can't help but worry.

"So your...fine with it?" Gaara asks hesitantly slightly fearing the answer.

"Eh? Yeah, I mean I'm guessing it's the charms?" Naruto questions slightly.

"That, but I also believe it's to do with the 'bond' we currently share" Gaara explains looking at the pendent. Naruto grins slightly before realising what he was doing and scratches his head sheepishly.

"It's special ya' know?"

"Yeah...I wonder what else it can do" Gaara thinks out loud. Naruto also pauses to think about it too, if it can help them read emotions what else can it possibly do?
Gaara shakes his head, most likely shaking a strange thought away before giving Naruto a small smile.

"I guess we'll figure it out along the way."

The two eventually decide to spend the day in the town. The long streets full of shops; currently celebrating Christmas. To offers, to samples. It had a wide variety and should be good for Christmas shopping. Both hadn't found each other a Christmas present and it seemed the best option.

"So I'm guessing you left Kankuro a present?" Naruto questions, walking in step with the red head beside him.

"Well...I did. But I don't think Kankuro will wait until Christmas. He probably opened it the minute I was gone" Gaara chuckles lightly. Visualising the scene In front of him.

"Sounds like him!" Naruto agrees enjoying Gaara's happy expression. Not only that, but knowing his happiness. The strange sensation around his heart. That must be Gaara's emotion. And currently Naruto believes it is happiness.  Naruto's eyes catch the colourful Christmas lights surrounding the square. His eyes full of excitement.

"Hey Gaara! Have you seen the lights?" Naruto asks in a gleeful tone. Causing Gaara to turn towards the display. The Christmas lights came in a array of colours. Mainly green, red and yellow. They were neatly tied from lamppost to lamppost in a usual way. The lights surrounded the square, some of the shops decided to add their own Christmas decorations on the shop front. Creating a celebratory effect. I'm the middle was a huge Christmas tree as the centre piece. Gaara stares at it for a while before breaking into a smile. 

"Yeah...it's amazing" Gaara states in awe.

"Did they do this kind of stuff in the sand?" Naruto asks curiously. Sensing Gaara's mood saddening.

"Hey, I didn't mean-"

"It's fine. And possibly. I was never involved nor invited to celebrations. And now I'm too busy to" Gaara sighs, cutting Naruto off slightly.

"Sorry about cutting you off. I could feel your panic so I thought it made sense to stop it, you know?" Gaara continues. Giving Naruto a small smile again.

"Now let's get celebrate!"

"Yeah!" Naruto grins grabbing Gaara's hand and running into the square.

Naruto pulls Gaara to the nearest store. Looking through the shop window before grinning and pulling Gaara in.

"Woah! You're really excited" Gaara murmurs.

"This shop is fun to look in! You'll love it!"

"I'm sure I will Naruto" Gaara responds. Looking around the shop entrance. The shop was full of gadgets and decorated weapons; and looked as Naruto said very entertaining.

A certain item catches Gaara's eye. Looking over to Naruto who also seemed to have his eye on something.

"Hey Naruto?" Gaara calls a little hesitantly.

"Yeah?"

"I'll meet you by the shop entrance" Gaara replies before releasing Naruto's hand and walking away.

Gaara arrived at a display case containing kunai.  The kunai were decorated to represent different tailed beasts. Seemingly hand done. The ninth was as expected the nine tailed fox. It was tied with a golden looking rope. The picture of Kurma painted from the middle of the kunai. Charka circling him. Spreading out all the way to the tip of the kunai. Remembering how close Kurma and Naruto are now (although Kurma will never admit it) he thought it would be the perfect Christmas present. He soon gets it gift wrapped in a yellow colour; with a orange gift bow and I'm a simple bag and hurries back over to Naruto who was standing by the shop entrance like  they previously agreed.

"Hey Naruto" Gaara greets casually meeting Naruto's friendly gaze.

"Hey Gaara! What's in that?" Naruto replies excitedly, pointing towards the bag Gaara was holding.

"I guess you'll have to wait and see" Gaara shrugs a teasing smile playing at his lips.

"Awwww, man!" Naruto whines but smiles knowingly anyway.

'He really is full of surprises'
