The Power Of Shinobi (Naruto x Gaara)

Chapter Twelve.

:O Oh my fluffy cheesecakes! She's done it again! She has actually updated? Woah! Welcome and today is...Friday! Which means Update day! I update on a Monday and Friday for this story for you people who don't know! Okay I'm done annoying you.

"We need to talk later"

Those words seemed to echo around Gaara's head for years. But in reality for a couple of minutes.

"Gaara? Are you okay?" Temari questions, as they exited the hideout and started to their way back.

"Yeah Dattebayo! You're acting weird!" Naruto agrees.

"I'm fine" Gaara responds.

"You sure...?"

"Yeah. I'm just worried about what the elders are going to say when we get back" Gaara quickly makes up an excuse.

"Oh God..." Kankuro grumbles.

"I never thought about that..." Temari trails off.

"Well, it was for a reason" Neji points out.

"Well...I've thrown away my duties...it's not as simple as you think" Gaara explains.

"You'd do all that for me?" Naruto questions him with wide eyes.

"Of course" Gaara replies. Making Temari whack him around the head for 'being dense'.

They continued there way back to the leaf. The journey was rather un-eventful. Naruto constant blabbing, but Gaara found himself smiling. He's still happy. That's the main thing.

They decide to camp for the night. Kakashi started to set up a fire while Neji and Kankuro went and collected fire wood. Temari went looking for some food with Sakura. So that just left Shikamaru, Gaara and Naruto to collect water. Shikamaru was "too lazy" to go but really he wanted to see how well they actually got along.

Once Gaara and Naruto were out of sight, they started up a conversation.

"So how's things Gaara?" Naruto asks with a grin.

Gaara's face heats up slightly at the sight of Naruto's grin. But quickly hides underneath his pale skin.

"Alright I suppose, what about you?" Gaara asks. Temari told him that it was always polite to ask how someone was back. So, he did it. But he never really found himself that interested in what the person was saying. But it was a lot different now, he actually truthfully wanted to know.

"Well...the war has ended and things are starting to go back to normal? My hands better...thankfully dattebayo! You should of seen how awesome me and Sauske-teme's fight was! And I'm a jōnin now! Dattebane! I had to read so many text books my brain hurt! I've also been getting free ramen!" Naruto said excitedly. Gaara smiled at him, and without realising it fell into the water.

Naruto started laughing at Gaara's surprised face. Gaara's eyes suddenly gained a mischievous glint before he grabbed Naruto's leg and pulled him in.

"Hahahaha! AHH!" Naruto yelled as he came into contact with the water. And Gaara started laughing. Naruto stopped and stared at him. He had never heard Gaara laugh like this; he heard him chuckle but never full out laugh. And Naruto strangely liked it. Grinning he tackled Gaara causing his laughter to stop. 

Both of them ended up under water.  Naruto on top of Gaara which surprised Gaara. Naruto grins and gets off, swimming to the surface. Gaara soon follows and they both gasp for air.

"Looks like I win" Naruto states with a victory pose. Gaara watched as he moonlight eliminated his face. His blue eyes sparkling with excitement.

'I can't remember the last time I've felt so comfortable around someone...Naruto you really are full of surprises' Gaara thinks to himself with a small smile.
