Amber's PoV

5th October 2013

After our little trip to the movie theatre, we started walking back to my place, hand in hand.

"Hey Shawn?" I asked.

"Yeah?" He said.

"Do you want to stay over tonight? We can watch movies and eat stuff" I said with a smile. I was proud of myself for plucking up the courage to ask Shawn out today. Yes I've only known him for around a week, but he's already one of my best friends.

Sophie was right, I needed to take this as a positive. Push myself. Do things that are out of my comfort zone. And that's exactly what I'm doing.

Shawn was looking at me as if expecting an answer.

"Sorry, what was that?" I asked, and he laughed at me.

"I said, I'd love that, if it's ok with our moms. It's not like I'll be far anyway."

"Yeah that's true, I'll text my mom right now." I said.

Hey can Shawn stay over tonight please? Movie night x

Sure, not in the same bed though x

MOM! It's not like we'd do anything!

I know, but still x

I suppose you can stay in the same bed as long as the door is open x

So he can stay over then? X

I already said yes sweetie, he seems like a nice boy, plus Karen will be right next door if there are any problems x

To: Mom🤞🏾
Thank you so much mom! I love you💓

"She said yes!" I turned to look at Shawn, and he smiled back at me.

"Then it's a date!" He said, and gave my hand a squeeze.

*3hrs later*

Shawn went home to get some clothes for the next day and some snacks for our movie night.

The doorbell went, and soon my mum was shouting for me.

"Amber? Shawn is here!"

"Okay mom! I'll be down in 5" I shouted back.

I pulled some navy sweats out my drawer, and pulled a white sweatshirt off a hanger. I grabbed a Nike sports bra, a fresh pair of underwear and some white Nike ankle socks. I stripped and got changed, then jogged down the stairs to find Shawn in the living room with a glass of orange juice.

"Hey!" I said as he looked up and smiled at me. "You coming?" I continued. He nodded and jumped up to follow me. I grabbed his bag from beside him and walked back up the stairs to my room. He followed me in and laid down on my bed after placing his glass on the nightstand.

"What do you wanna watch?" I asked, while grabbing the remote and turning back to my tv.

"Mmm, 'The Fault In Our Stars'?" He asked.

"Yeah, if u wanna see me cry!" I said, turning round to smile at him.

"It's okay, I'll hold you" he said whilst smirking.

"Hmm, cuddles are good... do I decline your offer?"

"Shawn cuddles are the best in the business, I've heard!" He said whilst we laughed and smiled at each other.

"Sure why not, I love that movie anyway." I said, and lay down beside him before opening a bag of chips. I started playing the movie, and lay my head on Shawn's chest. He wrapped his arm around me, and that's how we lay for the next two hours.

Shawn's PoV

Although I was holding Amber close to me, I heard soft sobs after a while.

"Hey, are you ok?" I asked in a soft voice.

"I'm okay," She said more to herself than to me. She tilted her head up and I looked down at her to see tears streaming down her face. I quickly engulfed her in a tight hug.

"It's okay, sweetheart! You're okay!" I whispered in her ear. She cried softly onto my shoulder, and I gently rubbed the small of her back. She pulled away from me after a while, and I placed a soft kiss on her cheek.

"Is there a reason why this upsets you so much?"

"Um, yeah, but it doesn't matter," She said, looking down.

"Yes it does! It's obviously a big part of your past, and it may help to get it off your chest." I said to her, pulling her back in close to me.

"Well, I had a twin brother called Alfie. He got a brain tumour, but we didn't catch it until it was too late. He died on New Years Eve two years ago." She said with a sigh, before looking down and fiddling with her rings.

"Amber I'm so sorry! But I hope you know that if you ever need anyone to talk to about anything then I'm always here for you," I said, placing another kiss on her cheek. She buried her head in the crook of my neck and I took in her sweet scent in.

She pulled away after a while, and our faces were only millimetres apart. I looked down at her lips, then back into her beautiful grey/green eyes. She ran her fingers through my hair, and pulled me close enough that our noses were touching.

Before I knew it, my lips had smashed onto hers, and I tasted the salty tears that were still running down her face. Her warm, soft lips fit perfectly with mine, and I never wanted this moment to end.

It wasn't a peck, nor a make-out, but the perfect in between. After a minute or two, I pulled away, and felt her warm breath on my face. She gave me a weak smile, and a grin soon formed on my face.

I rolled over so my face wasn't over hers anymore, and she soon draped her delicate arm over my chest as I wrapped my arm around her back. We fell asleep like that, and I couldn't have asked for a better first kiss with her.

The perfect night ended with a perfect kiss
