As soon as RJ dropped the call, he happily ran to his closet and rummaged through his clothes to look for the perfect outfit.

The past few days that Nicki had been aloof to him made him rethink of their relationship as friends. He thought everything was going smoothly. They would constantly talk and hangout with each other. He was confident that, although little by little, their friendship is getting stronger as they get to know each other better day by day. Until this past week when he felt that something's not right, it opened his eyes to what really matters. Nicki.

She had indeed become so much a part of him in the short period of time that they've been friends. They've become so close that sometimes even Sheena or his friends would jokingly ask about the real score between them and he would always feel a tug in his heart at their answer, "Friends lang kami."

He wanted so much for them to be more than that. But as the song by The Supremes goes, he can't hurry love and he just have to wait. He gotta trust and give it time no matter how long it takes. Pero ano nga ba ang hinihintay niya? How much longer can he really wait? With the sudden change of Nicki's behaviour towards him, bigla siyang nakaramdam ng takot. Yung takot na sa isang iglap mawala na lang ang lahat. He was afraid that in a mere blink of an eye, Nicki would find someone that could mean more to her than him. Because at this point, he's just a friend. And what scared him even more was the thought that someone might take her away from him. Ano nga bang laban niya kung ganun? Eh kaibigan pa lang naman siya ni Nicki. He knew he's already in love with her but he thought it's not yet the right time to tell her. After all, it was only a month ago when they saw each other again at the coffee shop.

His mind flew to that Sunday they went out before Nicki began treating him coldly. They surely had a great time as he walked with her back to her condo unit. She even kissed his cheek goodbye. So he really didn't have any idea what went wrong after that. For days he was trying to put the negative thoughts at the back of his mind. But there were nights when he would just stare blankly at his ceiling and find himself thinking about those unwanted thoughts. Sobrang daming tanong na gumugulo sa utak niya kung bakit biglang may nagbago.

May nagawa ba kong mali? May nagbabawal na ba sa kanyang makipag-usap sa akin? May kasama kaya siyang iba kaya hindi niya ko naaalala? Bakit parang feeling ko lumalayo siya sa akin? May nalaman ba siya tungkol sa'kin?...

There were so many questions clouding his head and he knew he could only get the answers once they see each other again. His list of queries could go on and on, but in the end he would make himself believe that maybe she's just busy at the moment with some school stuff and her volleyball training. Nevertheless, it won't change the fact that he's been missing her badly.

But things got him so crazy by the end of the week when he didn't received any replies from her and she missed their morning and late night phone conversations. He was trying to understand how busy she was but then again, he couldn't stop himself from thinking about where he should stand in her life right now. It's clear that they are friends but the phone conversation that they just had earlier where she pointed out that they were not in that kind of relationship made him more resolved in pursuing her. And though he knew that their friendship will be at stake, he has already decided. Today will be different. Today, he will tell her how he truly feels about her. Today, he will risk their friendship as he takes it to the next level.

He stormed out of his room and knocked on his cousin's bedroom door to ask for his help.
