Dear Father Mike;
Forgive me for lack of pleasantries. I am Sadie Francesca Lancaster. I may not ring a bell now but I will be soon after you finish reading this letter for I am sure that I had made more headlines dead rather than when I was alive. I know that you are not a therapist but frankly speaking, I have a lot of things in mind right now. I have so much things that I wish to write in this letter. There are so much to be said but that would need time and time, unfortunately, is simply something that I do not have right now. So to keep this short, Father I would like to make my last confession.
Father, forgive me for I have sinned. I broke the sixth commandment, I killed. I killed thyself.
Sincerely,
Sadie Lancaster.
Sadie Lancaster has already been the talk of the town before her death. She's extremely talented in ballet and cheer dancing and has won several awards locally and abroad. She's charismatic, kind, and smart. She always attends Sunday masses and always volunteers on humanitarian missions. She's popular, rich, and beautiful. She's basically perfect. No one had anticipated her death to be so soon, and most certainly did they not expect it to be caused by her own hands. Written in big bold letter in our local newsletter was:
'SADIE LANCASTER COMMITTED SUICIDE'
But even before the article could be published, rumors started to go around to every nook and canny of our town. You can't trust your secret to kept in this town after all. The news had already spread fast of her death but when the evidence officially came out, it spread even faster because of her crime. Her once perfect image was shattered within seconds. Parents that used to praise her and tell their children to be more like her now looked down on her and warned their children to be not like her. It was ironic how fast people could turn their backs on you. It was as if they are expecting you to be a perfect little angel forever. They never understand that people make mistakes. Unfortunately for Sadie, it was a mistake she can never undo.
People didn't really know why she did it. She had everything that she needed - she is loaded, she is very social, she is basically set to succeed. Everyone is actually waiting for her to finish her last year of high school so that she can start to spread her wings outside of this town. People have been very excited for the road ahead of her, thinking that she will bring glory to this old town. After all, any man can see her potential. However, with everything that had happened. People went into the state of shock, especially when she wrote her last farewell letter. Everyone was too coped up with what she did that they didn't dig further. Sure, she wrote this note, but she didn't state why she did it and it makes me curious.
Sadie and I weren't the best of friends nor do we interact on a daily basis. She and I were simply childhood friends that lost touch as our differences created the distance. No big deal really. Everyone went through those times especially when you grew up in one place. Some people move away, new comers would go in, and some simply change. I'm not smart enough to be part of her debate team, not musically talented to be part of the choir, not flexible enough to be part of her cheer team or ballet class, not religious enough to go to church, not a philanthropist to help people, and most certainly not as outgoing as her to ever interact with her outside of school.
