"Names?" The lady in the office asked as she glanced towards Jules and me. I gave her my best smile as I answered. "Amber Clark" Followed by Jules' just as bright one "Seth Anderson" Now that I think of it, was Jaxson in a way mocking me when he picked the name out? I glanced at my now auburn locks cascading down my shoulders. Ember sounded too much like Amber and indeed that's what my hair looked like as of now. A deep chestnut colour replacing my previous brown hair.

It was Jaxsons idea that I change something about myself, even if its just the colour of my hair. I surprisingly didn't protest against the idea, my own paranoia of getting found must have done the trick. Of course, Jules didn't feel the need to change his hair. Something about it taking him forever to get it the shade of platinum it was.

Jaxson had looked at him like he didn't know whether to laugh or complain. Of course, I knew Jules too well to sadly say he wasn't joking. That's right, if we get found at least Goldie locks here will still have his precious mane.

She glanced back at her computer screen probably looking through the system. I couldn't help but notice that she looked weary when she heard that we were supposedly new students. After all, this school doesn't accept new students throughout the year. I silently thanked Jaxson for doing this for us.

She squinted at her screen before looking back at us. "Indeed there are two new students in the system, well welcome to Hillview Academy," She forced out the greeting with such fake enthusiasm it almost sounded horribly practiced. I smiled anyway, If we wanted to fit in at this new school we had to put on an act, be nice and be a bit sugar coated.

From experience, it helps people open up more, also who the hell is going to approach us if we have a permanent scowl on our faces? I know I wouldn't. Especially since I had a serious case of resting bitch face. I guess you could say it runs in the family, even mom had a nasty frown when she needed it and she was an angel compared to our family tree.

After a few moments, she returned with two slips of paper. After handing us our schedules she offered us another forced smile.

"Do you really think this will work?" Jules asked as soon as we were in the corridors again. I shrugged in response. "We've gotten this far haven't we, so why not? I'm honestly surprised we made it this far"

I stopped as soon as Jules blocked my way. His eyebrows were furrowed as he looked around frantically making sure no one was around. I only now realized that he was actually worried. I squinted looking at his frantic eyes. Since when was Jules anything but collected when it came to these types of things?

"You're worried" I voiced my thoughts. He scoffed lifting his arms in exaggeration.

"Of course I'm worried Amber, we could easily blow our covers or worse, end up being found"

I sighed. He wasn't wrong this was a huge risk. But anything was better than going back. They will have to shoot me before they can bring my body back into that cold house.

I looked up meeting his eyes. "Don't worry, I got this. Just be your charming deadly self and I'll do the rest"

He still looked unsure but let the topic drop. I continued towards our first class. French, fun.

Finally finding the room I knocked before opening it. Ignoring the curious glances of the students, I walked towards the teacher's desk.

"I'm Amber that's Seth, we're new here, not sure if you're aware but we're in your class from now on" Whispers instantly surrounded us. I cringed at how blunt I was being. She glanced at Seth before turning her hesitant eyes back to me.

She looked lost before finally speaking up. "Well, I'm sure there are places for the two of you here, for now just pick any seats" I nodded making my way towards the middle row where there were three unoccupied ones.
