Chapter twenty-one

Eli's POV

I was so sad I didn't even hear the phone ringing. Dimitri did though and he went to answer it. I could vaugley hear him talking but all could focus on was how little time we had together. I remembered how she looked when she smiled or how beautiful she was. I always liked how she looked at me when she thought I wasn't looking, but I was always looking. I wanted to remember everything about her.

"Eli... we have to go to the hospital, now." Dimitri says placing a hand on my shoulder.

"I'm going to rip that little mutt's head off." I mumble to myself pulling myself up.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. You can kill your brother later now we have to go." Dimitri says tugging me all the way to the hospital. We burst in through the doors and the nurse was standing there waiting. She looked up when we entered.

"I'm so sorry. She was stable and everything was fine then she just didn't have a heartbeat. I don't understand how this happened." The nurse says. "Oh and your son hasn't stopped crying since she... died. We were hoping you could help."

"Where is he?" I ask feeling the tears start to come.

"Where you left him. In the nursery with another nurse trying to get him to stop crying." I was gone before she said the last word. I reached the nursery and walked in and heard my little Jason crying his heart out. The nurse looks up at me desperatly and hands him to me. She hurrys out of the room and hustles down the hallway, pushing past Dimitri.

I look down at Jason finally and see him looking up at me. His bottom lip was jutted out and quivering while his blue eyes shone with unshed tears. He reaches his tiny arm up and clutches my shirt. I smile as he snuggles closer to my chest and closes his eyes.

After a couple minuets of rocking him back and forth I can hear his even breathing and know he has fallen asleep. I place him in his crib and quietly I leave the room. The nurse is standing outside with Dimitri waiting for me.

"I'm sorry but you have to identify that the body is Thalia." The nurse says. I sigh and nod my head following her to some room.

When I walked in I was hit with the pungent smell of blood. Thalia's blood... I took one glance at her body before I looked away because I couldn't see her without crying. "Yes, that's her." I say walking closer to her body without realizing it. I lifted my hand to her head and stroaked her hair.

"Okay. We can make arrangments for a burial service here or we can transport her to another hospital, closer to home, so they can make burial arrangments." The nurse says.

"Transport her to The Tiger-moon hospital please. It is the hospital closest to home." i say still stroaking her hair. The nurse nods and leaves the room.

Just before she does I stop her. "Wait," I say looking back at her, "when can I take my son home with me?"

"You can fill out the paper work tomorrow and bring him home tomorrow."

"Thank you, for everything you've done and tried to do." I say. She smiles sadly at me before leaving the room.

I look down at Thalia and I finally allow myself to cry. I place my head in my hands kneel beside the table she was lying on. " Hey Thals. I hope your okay with the name I choose for our son. He reminded me of a Jason. He has your hair and nose....I'm so sorry I couldn't protect you. I was supposed to protect you but then I was flustered and... I need you Thalia. You can't be gone... please don't be gone." I say pleadingly. I look up at her and see no difference in her apperance. I growl in annoyance that i got my hopes up. I then look at her again before leaning forward and placing one last kiss on her cold, hard lips.

"I'm sorry..."
