Alec was busy with examining the racks of seraph blades in the weapons room of the institute when he was interrupted by Jace running into the room, his bare chest glistening with sweat. The way his eyes darted around made Alec nervous, so he slowly put down the blade he had been examining and hurried over.

"What's the matter?" he asked, trying not to let his eyes wander over Jace's strong, muscular chest. He couldn't deny that Jace was attractive and made him feel something undeniable. But Jace with dating Clary, and that thought brought the purple marks on Jace's neck to the older male's attention. Maybe Jace's half naked-ness and sweat was nothing to do with training as Alec had first expected.

"Jace, what brings you here?" he asked, raising his eyebrow at his best friend and trying to avert his eyes from the muscular abdomen of his best friend and adopted brother who was looking even sexier than normal with his grey sweatpants hanging on his narrow hips, the runes standing out clearly on his tanned skin. Jace looked at Alec then looked down at the floor, wondering if he had maybe been wrong to burst in without putting his shirt back on.

"There's a warlock here, he wants to see you," Jace said, backing away so that he could give Alec some time to decide whether or not he was going to decide. "Just before you make up your mind, he's the High Warlock of Brooklyn and he seems impatient." Jace added, walking out of the weapons room and disappearing, leaving Alec on his own to sigh deeply. He hadn't been feeling well that day, in fact  a sense of hopelessness had been creeping up on him for months. He'd been trying to ignore it by keeping his mind busy and working hard but he couldn't shake the feeling.

"Alexander! Excuse me barging in, but this is an emergency." a tall, brown skinned male with striking yellow-brown eyes glided into the room, the red highlights in his hair giving him a somewhat sexual look. Combined with his thick eyeliner and dark eyeshadow he looked like a mysterious stranger, the kind that he normally avoided due to not wanting his heart to be broken or played with; but with this mysterious man made him feel so confused. They had never met, and would likely never meet again, but Alec couldn't help but feel something. The sense of hopelessness had vanished.

"Alexander, if you don't mind me calling you that, are you feeling ok?" the warlock asked, looking at Alec and running a nail varnished finger along his cheek. "You look rather pale." he said, concern showing in his eyes. Alec nodded and backed away slightly, running his fingers through his hair and then taking the warlock to his office and taking a seat. "As you know, I am Alec Lightwood, head of the New York Institute. What is your name and what is your business here?" Alec asked, getting a piece of paper and a pen to take note on whatever issue this Downworlder had brought to him.

"I am Magnus Bane, High Warlock of Brooklyn" Magnus responded, snapping his fingers and conjuring a blue coloured cocktail. Alec observed this disapprovingly. "What is the emergency?" he asked cooly, his blue eyes gazing into Magnus' sparkling ones seriously. Alec didn't appreciate the warlock's candid attitude when there could have been a serious crisis in the ground he was duty bound to protect.

"There have been some incidents of rogue warlocks in this area, I have never seen anything like it. They raided a bar that is a regular Downworlder meeting place, but also is used my mundanes." Magnus snapped his fingers and a blue, glittery folder appeared in Magnus' hand and in one slick move the warlock had slid it across the desk for Alec to read. Alec opened the folder cautiously and took out a set of images of total carnage, both mundanes and Downworlders seemed to have been targeted. The only thing that was unusual was the complete lack of blood, all of the various creatures which were sprawled out on the floor seemed to have simply gone to sleep. It was only a close up image of a young faerie girl's face that confirmed that they had, sadly, been killed.

"I'm sorry to upset you with these disturbing images," Magnus said softly, his yellow-brown eyes looking concerned. "But as head of the Institute I believe you needed to know. I will keep an eye on the situation but I would appreciate your Shadowhunters lending a hand, as you know us Downworlders are less likely to be appreciated." There was a hint of distaste in the warlock's tone but it was disguised by his wink as he finished his cocktail and disposed of the glass with a wave of his hand.

"I will give you my work number, do ring me if you need anything," Magnus said with another wink, sliding a piece of paper across the desk and standing up. "I will leave the evidence with you, in case you need it" he said, nodding at Alec and showing himself up, leaving Alec dumbfounded by the sensory overload he was having. He couldn't understand, and he wasn't sure if he wanted to.
