"You've been trained well (Y/N). I strongly believe you'll be ready to fight at my side next week."
You gulp. Two years you have practiced and trained alongside Gérard Lacroix. The Frenchman had taken quite the interest in you, saying that you had great potential and that he was proud to have you fight alongside him. The main reason he was so interested in you as a soldier, was your determination. He knew just how badly you had wanted to work here, and he knew just how badly you had wanted to make an impact. In that sense, he admired you.
He had become someone you looked up, you had nothing but respect for your trainer, partner, and your friend. The two of you had gotten rather close over the past couple of years. You even became his second in command, which meant if something ever happened to him, you would have to take his place. Even though you knew something would bad would never happen, you still feared for his safety out on the field. It's not just that you were nervous to take on such an important duty, but you didn't want to loose such a good friend.
Next week, all your training would finally be put into real use. Sure you've gone on missions with him before. But they were simple, and they were never of great importance, maybe you had to go guard something, or negotiate with someone, you had never once drawn your weapon. Now, you would be going into battle with him. It would be the two of you, and the rest of the soldiers that were under his command, versus hundreds of Talon soldiers. The attack had been planned accordingly days ago, and you had been studying it every chance you got.
Seeing as this was such a big deal, it was nerve wrecking for you. One mistake and you could risk anything and everything. Gérard noticed how worked up the upcoming mission had made you, so he had been trying to calm you. Soothe your conscious and your nerves.
"That's easy for you to say Lacroix... this isn't necessarily your first rodeo..." You sigh, taking a seat on the couch, rubbing your temples. The two of you were in the lounge, where he had asked you to meet him, though he hadn't yet told you why.
"Maybe, but even so, you need to calm down a bit. Going into this in your state could make it even harder. Yeah it's good that you're concentrated and focused, but I can tell it's getting to you."
"We'll just have to see about that now won't we...?"
"We've known each other for two years. I want to invite you to my place tomorrow night. Not only so you can have a relaxing night, but I would also like for you to meet Amélie. Properly this time. We were going to have some drinks and she suggested I invite you. Well, I suggested it, but she agreed. She wants to get to know you."
You've met Amélie before. Only briefly. The two of you share a couple of words whenever she stops by to see Gérard, but you've never held an actual conversation with her. The offer sounded quite nice when you thought about it.
Giving a nod, you stand back up, making eye contact with Lacroix. "Alright. I'll take up on your invitation."
He gave a warm smile at your response. "Great! We will leave just before dinner. Just meet me by the main entrance at 5:30?"
You nod. "I'll see you then. I'm going to go wash up for the night." You say, not telling him that you were going to study the battle plans yet again. You didn't want him to know you would be stressing yourself further.
Stepping past him, the two of you went your separate ways.

It was 5:30 and you were making your way to the main entrance where Gérard told you he would be waiting the previous day. You had decided to freshen up since you wanted to make a good first impression. No dress, since that seemed a bit over the top, but you did however wear one of your nicest shirts, along with a pair of plain, yet still nice, black leggings. Your (H/C) hair was put up in a bun, and that was about the extent of it.
By the time you made it to the doors, Gérard was already there waiting on you. The two of you didn't waste time as he lead you outside.
Making your way out of the base, a taxi was already waiting.
About forty-five minutes passed when the vehicle stopped in front of a very beautiful building. You knew that Gérard and his wife had good money, but you didn't know it was this good. He stepped out first, you following behind him. You stood, looking up at the grey stoned building in awe. The landscape in front was bright green and incredibly well taken care of. The stone was clean, bright and vibrant. You hadn't realized how long you had been taking in the view until you heard Gérard whistle towards you.
"Are you coming?" He asked, hand on the door knob as he waited patiently.
Pulling yourself back to reality you shook your head and made your way up the steps to the front door. "Yeah sorry... this place is gorgeous!"
"Amélie picked it out, can't you tell? The woman has expensive taste I tell you..." He groaned in a joking manner. You admired the relationship the two of them had. Gérard and Amélie. Never have you ever had a serious relationship with anyone, and sometimes you would even find yourself a bit jealous of the two. They just seemed perfect for each other and you so desperately wanted that kind of connection to someone.
The Frenchman opened the door for you, thanking him, you stepped inside. The interior was just as breathtaking as the exterior. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Gérard smirk ever so slightly at catching you staring in awe. "Lovely isn't it?"
"Very! I envy you Lacroix..." You say, obviously teasing and causing him to chuckle.
"She should be in here somewhere..." He said, and as if on cue, a gorgeous woman emerged from the hallway. Golden eyes, black hair done up well, and flawlessly clear skin. You couldn't lie, you for sure had a girl crush on her, she was too elegant for you not to. She smiled warmly at the two of you.
"I was wondering when you two would show." She spoke in her thick French accent. Walking up to the both of you, she put her arms around Gérard, embracing him in a hug.
"We came as soon as we could." He responded when the two of them pulled away.
Amélie then turned her attention to you. "Nice to see you made it as well, (L/N)." She said with a smile, holding her hand out to you.
You repaid her with a warm smile as you shook her hand. "Of course, and please just call me (Y/N)."
"Gladly. Gérard, sweetie? Could you open the red wine for me?"
"Yes I will. I noticed (Y/N) staring at awe at the house. Maybe you could show her around real quick?" Gérard said as he glanced over to you with a smile.
You blush lightly as you have a nod. "It is a very beautiful home you have."
"Why thank you (Y/N)." Amélie responded with a bright smile, you could tell that she took great pride in where she lived. "I will happily give you a quick tour. Follow me." She motioned you to follow her as walked down into the hallway in which she came out from. Gérard disappeared in the direction in which you assumed was the kitchen.
You followed Amélie as she showed you around. The end of the hall led you into a gigantic dinning area. Your eyes widened at the tall windows the covered the whole wall in front of you. The natural light flooded into the room and shone brightly on the well crafted wooden table and off the tile floors. It reflected off of something above which caught your eye, glancing up you noticed a gorgeous, golden, chandelier. "It's beautiful in here! Very open too..." You say as you continue to look around.
Amélie smiled beside you as she watched your expression carefully. "Like it? I'm sure you can tell this is the dinning area. Just over there is the office area or library. Whatever you'd like to call it." She pointed to her left where a raised area was located. You could see a desk with a computer on top, surrounded by shelves of books, but you couldn't see much more. "Then if you'll follow me over here to your right, I'll show you the balcony." She said as she led you off, out into what seemed like a separate hallway. Glancing to your right, you saw a room that had a ladder, gallons of paint and other supplies inside.
"Doing some work I see?" You ask, looking over to Amélie who stopped in front of two large glass doors. She looked over to the room in which you were talking about. Walking over, she smiled brightly like a little kid which you found quite cute if you were being honest.
"Gérard and I wanted to have something to do together, and we've always thought this room would look better if we painted it blue, so, we started it together. It's not finished obviously, but it's getting there." As she spoke, you saw the look of love and pure admiration.
"That's so cute. I'm not gonna lie, I'm kind of jealous of you two. You're so perfect!"
Amélie gave a soft giggle as she started walking back to the glass doors as you followed her. "Trust me, (Y/N), we have our low points just as any other relationship."
"How did you two meet anyways? Now that I think about it, I've never asked Gérard about it."
She opened up the giant glass doors which led to a grand balcony. In the middle was a breathtaking statue, pillars held up what seemed like what could be made into a second balcony above. Stairs to the side led off to a balcony on the other side of the house. "Well, I was walking home from the store one night. It was late, I didn't have a car at the time and I could find any taxis. I had quite a few bags and they were starting to get pretty heavy. Next thing I know, a car pulls over and my future husband steps out of the car and rushes over to me. He helped me back home, gave me his number and things just kinda kept adding on I guess." Amélie said with a dreamy look in her eyes. You couldn't help but smile at her as she turned to face you.
"I wish I could be that lucky." You respond as a joke.
The Frenchwoman playfully rolled her eyes as she placed a hand on your shoulder. "You'll find the right guy eventually, (Y/N), I know you will."
"No I won't. I'm not into guys. I'm a lesbian actually..." You say as a slight blush spread over your cheeks. You were kinda expecting Amélie to pull her hand away immediately but she never did.
"Oh? Well in that case, I'm sure you'll find the perfect girl for you." She said with a soft smile. "I mean, with that face it shouldn't take you long." Amélie joked as she poked you on the nose as you're cheeks began to heat up with a blush.
"Thank you, Amélie."
"No problem. C'mon, I'll continue showing you around and then we'll meet up with Gérard in the dinning area. You like red wine right?"
"I'm more of a vodka drinker but I like red wine as well." You respond and Amélie gave a smile.
"Well then allow me to show you to the cellar next, we'll see if there's any vodka for my guest."
Amélie continued to show around for maybe another five minutes or so before she led you back into the dinning area where Gérard waited, pouring himself a glass of red wine already.
"Really sweetie? Are you that eager to get drunk?" Amélie said teasingly towards her husband. He responded with a smirk, setting down his glass.
"You know I don't get drunk, mon amour."
"My apologies I must've forgotten... you're a 'classy drinker'." You smile softly at the two of them as you poured yourself a glass of the vodka Amélie had given you from the cellar.

May 5, 2070

It was 3 A.M. The three of you had only meant to have a couple of drinks and talk for maybe a couple hours. The fact that it was the next day, before 6 in the morning, Gérard was passed out, Amélie and you were still awake and drunk as hell, was a complete mistake.
Amélie finished her fit of laughter from what you had said before she set her drink down on the table, trying to regain her breath.
"Mon Dieu..." She said as she wiped her eyes, a large grin on her face. "I thought you said you were single?"
You gave her a confused look as you finished the rest of your glass. "I am, what do you mean?"
"I have a hard time believing you."
     "What? Why?"
She gave a smile and a small giggle. "Because your so funny! It's really hard for someone to have such witty humor and be good at it. Not to mention you're very beautiful, smart, charming..." Amélie drifted off and she seemed like she just heard what she was saying. She looked back up to you and grinned. "You're a good... friend. I wish I had met you sooner." She said as she rested her head on your shoulder which caused you to blush slightly darker than you already were.
"How much sooner do you mean?" You ask softly as you could tell she was tired.
"Before I met Gérard..." Amélie whispered tiredly before she let out a yawn. "Goodnight (Y/N)."
You stayed silent for a little bit before you hesitantly rested your head against hers. "Goodnight Amélie..."
