Warriors: A Silver Moon Rises

Chapter 3

         

            I bounded through the camp entrance carrying the thorny nest in my mouth, being careful not to get any of the thorns on my pelt. A patrol of warriors had just left the camp as I left, I bumped Into Thistleclaw as I was bounding out of the camp. " Where are you off to in such a hurry Angelheart?" The brown tom asked while picking himself up off the ground.  " Silvermoon is replacing One-eyes bedding, and she asked me to get rid of the thorny bedding," I said in response.  " We were heading to the clearing near the river, do you want to come with us, we will need all the help we can get to try and see if we can find any clues as to why there was a shadowcaln warrior in our territory last night," He stated. The moment he said Shadowclan cat, my mind started racing with thoughts of the things that happened last night. If I go, they might find out I was there as well. I decided to turn down there offer, as I was worried I would get caught, and since I was meeting a shadowclan cat tonight, I didn't want to get in any trouble. I watched as the patrol continued on their way before I made my way to an area of the forest where I could safely ditch the thorny nest. Oh Shadowtail, why did you make me fall for you, we could get into deep trouble If we allow things to go further. I shook away all my thoughts and began to wander around the forest.

I eventually found myself caught up in hunting, I honestly forget how I came about this, but the next thing I knew I was carrying 2 vole and a crow into the camp. I licked my lips as I put down my catch in the Fresh kill pile.  " Angelheart, Did you have any issue getting rid of that thorny nest? it sure took you a long time to come back to camp," Silvermoon asked on her way to the fresh kill pile. " Umm..no, I just got caught up in hunting somehow while I was out in the forest," I explained. Silvermoon then gave me a funny look, as If she thought I was lying to her or something.  " Why are you looking at me like that?" I finally asked her, growing quite annoyed with the facial expression she was pulling,  " I don't know, you just seemed eager to leave the camp this morning when I asked you to get rid of the nest. Are you running off to go meet someone?" She asked with a sly look on her face.  " No, I just wanted to get rid of the nest, that's all," I lied. It was hard for me to lie to Silvermoon, though she is older than me, The many times I have been asked to help her, we grew close to eachother, we tell eachother everything. I felt horrible for not telling her this big secret of mine, but I knew if I told her she would only tell Firestar, and then I would be in big trouble. Not just me though, Shadowtail too. She gave me one last long look before she turned and went back into the medicine den. I heaved a sigh of relief and headed for the warriors den, found my nest and went to sleep. Who knows how long I would be with Shadowtail for.

When I eventually managed to open my eyes, silverpelt was shining and the camp was quiet. I slowly made my way for camp entrance, hoping I wouldn't get caught by anyone. I took lne last look around the camp before I began to race through the forest toward the two-leg place. There was a point when I felt like I was being followed but saw nobody. When I finally arrived at the two-leg place, Shadowtail was already there.  " I come here all the time to get away from camp life," he said staring at one of the two-leg homes far across the field. He began to walk across the field, so I followed close behind him.  " I couldn't stop thinking about you yesterday," he said suddenly " I know we only met yesterday, but I want to get to know you more, I like you alot," he added,  " Me too," I finally said after a moment of silence. We continued to walk across the field, coming closer to the two-leg place.  " I've noticed the two-legs go into the forest more during greenleaf, I thought I would let you know so you can be careful in the forest, I know alot about the two-legs..I use to live with them before i became a rogue, and later joined Shadowclan," he explained. Conversation went on for hours and I finally headed back to my camp. Everyone was sound asleep still when I snuck into the den and went to sleep. All I could think about was Shadowtail, and how much I wished we could be together.

I awoke the next morning to find the den empty, and Silvermoon staring over me looking quite concerned.

  " well good morning to you too," I said in an enthusiastic tone.  " Care to tell me where exactly you went last night, I saw you leave the camp and I followed you through the forest toward the two-leg place," She said quite angrily.  " If I was to tell you, you would only tell Firestar...and I can't let you do that," I said with a sad tone in my voice.  " Angelheart, If you would only tell me I might understand, please...I thought we told eachother everything, we always keep eachothers secrets, why has that suddenly changed?" she asked in a seriouse tone. I gave a quick glance around the den, to make sure nobody was around to hear what I was about to say.  " I met someone, and I think he really likes me," I said with a slight smile. " Okay....well who is this young cat?" Silvermoon asked, quite persistant to know the answer.

" Well...umm, His name is Shadowtail, and he is from....Shadowclan," I said quickly, relieved to get it off my chest. There was silence for what felt like forever before anyone said anything. I wanted you to try and understand, I thought you would understand anything, but I can see why you would be upset.

" Please say something," I said with a slight hint of saddness in my voice  " Do you know how dangerous this is, you are breaking the warrior code, " She explained sadly. " If you really care for him, then at least try and talk to Firestar, and have this..Shadowtail, make a choice..wether he wants to stay a part of his clan or not," She said. Just then Firestar raced into the den.  " Angelheart  we need you to go on an urgent patrol now, Dovewing has said that she found dead prey in the forest," the noble leader said urgently.  " Firestar, may I go to please, I might be able to help," Silvermoon asked hopefully,  " Go, I want to know who has done this....thoughI already have an idea of who," he said angrily. ......."Shadowclan."
