We all boarded the private jet and I smiled when I looked over all of the luxury seats. This plane would definitely not be cramped, much unlike my flight from JFK airport to London.
A stewardess welcomed us aboard and went over the safety procedures, even though everybody knew them. I didn't know that they still had to go over instructions even on a private flight. Oh well, safety first.
The captain didn't get out of his cockpit, and the boys took various seats around the plush jet. The seats were a creme color and had extra padding for extra comfort that would recline all the way back if any of us desired to sleep on the flight. TVs and built-in laptops also connected to the luxurious chairs with internet access, and there were two seats to a row, with a wide open aisle way.
Harry pulled me over to one of the seats in the very back, and he graciously offered up the window seat. I thanked him, as I loved looking out the window during flights. It's amazing being able to see how fast we're flying, and it's absolutely incredible trying to grasp that we are quickly speeding in between countries and famous land masses.
"Are you ready?" Harry asked me, casually laying his arm on my chair so as to gain a better view and make it easier for him to lean over.
I nodded.
"Paris or bust, right?" He laughed.
I looked around our jet and saw that Liam and Maddie were sitting together near the front of the plane, that Niall and Louis were seated behind Paul and his fellow body guard ("aw, come on, Paul. We won't kick your seat"), and Zayn quickly chose a middle seat and reclined his chair, already fast asleep. He wouldn't like the fact that the stewardess would soon tell him to sit all the way forward for takeoff.
Just as I thought this, it happened, and Zayn unhappily woke up from his beauty sleep.
"All good for takeoff," voiced the captain over the intercom. "Right now we are currently second in line, and then we'll be up in the air, flying in One Direction towards Paris." I laughed, and the boys pretended that they've never heard that before (I'm sure they have).
I patiently waited and put in my headphones to make the time pass quicker and felt the jet speed up and tilt at an angle, and suddenly we were up in the air, quickly racing above the clouds. I took out my headphones and gaped.
"London looks so beautiful from the sky!"
Harry put one of his hands on my shoulder and leaned in for a closer look.
"I've seen a more beautiful sight before, but, yes, it's beautiful." I turned my head to see him quickly look away from my face and pretend to admire the city, his cheeks furiously flushing red.
Had he been looking at me? No, I must have imagined it.
I took a few photos on my phone and continued to admire the city from the sky, but in just a short amount of time, we were already leaving London far behind.
Harry hadn't looked over at me since his comment, and was quickly opening up a laptop and trying to conceal his blushing cheeks with his curly hair.
"There's only an hour and a half on the flight," he said, in a tone that almost sounded like regret.
"Only?" I questioned.
He nodded and quickly requested a glass of water from the stewardess. Once she shuffled over and poured Harry a drink, he graciously took a sip, busied himself on the computer, and looked up a minute later, clearly forgetting that I had wanted a response.
"Well, I mean..." He glanced around the jet but wouldn't be getting any help from his band mates. He ruffled his hair and sheepishly responded with, "it's nice being up in the air, knowing that you're finally alone, y'know?" I nodded, and he continued, "I mean, we don't have to worry about crazy fans until we land. Nobody will be sneaking glances with their cameras, and so when we're up in the air, we can finally relax with comfort."
