"Maksim's Journal. July 12th, 1807:
No luck for me in the city. When I arrive at the city looking for a job that will help me pay off the taxes that I still owe William, and to sell some of my crops before winter sets in. So there was nothing to be joyful about. The trip was just a big fat waste of my time, nothing but a big failure.
I have to get back home some day before my daughter's big wedding. I'm still questioning myself if this is the best thing for her? All I wanted is for Alina's happiness. I know deep down that she hates me for marrying her off to Gaston, but she just smiles for me and just gives it a chance. I hope... and pray that it might work out for the both of them...
Lord help us all..."
Unfortunately things did not do so well with Maksim in the city. After many weeks he had to return home empty handed. His horse walked slowly through the narrow path like a snake, the sun was settling behind the mountains.
Maksim had a heavy heart from his misfortune journey, he had just high hopes that he'll make a fortune so Alina could live the life she had always dreamed of, but that will never happen. Because he'll be nothing, but a poor farmer of the village, and a bigger fool to dream big dreams. Dreams are for fools who dream to make them feel good about themselves. That everybody believed...expect for Alina.
Suddenly it began to rain, the wind hollowed like wolves, clouds covered the moon making it hard for Maurice to see. The wind carried a chilling breeze that made him shiver under his leather coat.
Dusk fell in the forest, and the gloomy night became more and more threatening. The storm began to wake the dark sky. It twisted the clouds and growled terrible thunder. The rain felt icy against the poor man's bare hands; the shivering man began seeking shelter from the storm. Cold, tried, and hungry, he thought that he'll freeze to death.
But out of nowhere he heard a rustling from the trees above, Maksim looked up to see a shadowy figure leaping from tree to tree, staking Maksim's every move. Maksim kicked his horse to move faster, so the horse began running through the dark woods. Panic swelled up in his chest; he heard the sound of foot-steps that running at full speed, the sound was coming closer, and closer toward Maksim.
Maksim kicked the horse, ordering to go faster so the horse ran at full speed, but he could still heard the foot-steps coming even closer. The rain splashed against his face, his vision became blur, he couldn't see anything; couldn't see his hand in front of his face.
Then something leaped from the tree, landed on top of Maksim. Maksim tried to fight it off, but the figure was too Strong. The stranger grabbed Maksim's arm, and flung him off of his horse. Maksim fell down on the wet forest floor; he heard his horse crying out, still running, than another scream, then everything went silent.
