The axe swung into his neck with a searing pain. And yet, he couldn't move.
She swung again, and just as the tip of the blade hit his neck, he blacked out.
All he'd tried to do was make up for everything he'd done, and it cost him his life, theoretically.
'Doctor' this.. 'Doctor' that.. the title carried a.. weight he didn't want on his shoulders.
He'd done so much as a 'Doctor'. Hurt so many.
And even his attempts to clear his name may have been in vain.
He remembered his first day as 'Doctor'...
Jamison stepped through the door with hope in his eyes. He'd finally been hired as a scientist. If he was lucky, he thought, he'd get to work with something big! Like curing a disease.. or something like that.
A short man named Max guided him to his office.
Jamison felt his stomach drop.
"Your first assignment is on your desk." Max said, leaving.
Jamison spent most of the day feeling like, or actually vomiting in the bathroom.
And then his eyes snapped open.
He was lying on the forest floor, with a very hard to ignore pain in his neck. His glasses were cracked, his orange hair was a matted and tangled mess, he was sure of it, and he felt.. light. Light and dizzy.
As if it were all dream. However, the pain in his neck was enough to prove it real.
God, it was all he could think about.
He sat against a tree and gripped his neck.
That's when he heard it.
