Jamison quickly realized he was bored. He filled out some sodoku thing he found in his pocket, spent 30 minutes trying to stack cards, flipped through channels on the TV, counted the ceiling AND floor tiles (all together there were 58), and he had nothing to do, whatsoever.
.....
"Jamison, what do you want to be when you grow up?"
"A.. disease person! Like a person who studies the diseases and finds cures."
"An epidemiologist."
"Ehpa-demiogist."
Ms. Hawthorne chuckled, and said, "Sure."
Jamison's eyes were always lit up with some sort of wonder, or fascination. It made Ms. Hawthorne wonder. How. How do you always stay so excited about things?
It was something that always bothered Ms. Hawthorne.
Jamison was a.. peculiar kid, but a good one.
He always had an affinity for science, even when he wasn't good at it at times.
Ms. Hawthorne never lived to see the day he graduated, but she would have loved to.
Before she died, he always visited her. Every once in a while, towards the end of her life, Jamison would ask, "Do we get second chances on things that can't be undone?"
And she never knew the answer.
...
He still wondered that question from time to time, but now he knows the answer, and he hates it.
It's a short, simple, no in his eyes. Or lack thereof.
Jamison looked out of the window, and saw that the sky had grown dark, and the rain was coming down harder than hellfire.
Hellfire.. a weird comparison for him to make, don't you think?
He took out a piece of paper and began to write something,
'does hell exist?' was all Stronach could bring himself to write before wordlessly tearing the page to shreds.
In the corner of his eye, he saw it again. Two, laser-like spots that made his very being grow cold.
Yet, when he turned to look at them, they simply vanished.
The person from before.. two red eyes.. she'd warned him about people tying to 'take his soul'.
Was she warning him of herself? It was a possibility, but not one he liked.
Or maybe he's finally losing it.
Who gives a shit?
It's not like that wasn't going to happen. In fact, considering, it should've happened earlier.
He told himself if he saw them anymore, he'd check himself into an asylum.
Jamison was sure he wasn't going to see them again.
