Regrets were had.
Stronach stood over the trashcan, dry heaving at this point.
He'd thrown up the water and what little he'd eaten. It was the water, wasn't it?
God, he felt horrible. He was shaking and he felt weak. He was a blizzard and an inferno at the exact same time.
The two don't mix well.
After he was done with his little.. incident, he snuck some food off the counter, and wandered out of the clinic.
Lively people roamed the streets, in contrast to Jamison, who looked like an empty husk of a person. His head throbbed, and finally, he collapsed back on the bench. It was a bit damp from the storm earlier, but at this point he couldn't complain. The river-blue sky seemed to hang above, like a curtain.
If he could just see what was underneath that curtain.. no. What the hell? He's not even dead yet. At least.. he doesn't think so. Was he?
"God, now I'm really losing it," Jamison said aloud, to no one in particular, "I'm not fucking dead, get a grip Stronach."
...
The mechanical parts surrounded Stronach.
"I'm an epidemiologist, not an engineer, what do you expect me to do with-..."
But Max was gone as quickly as he'd arrived.
The.. cyborg(?) sat in front of him. Was he even a cyborg? Where were the human parts?
It was all one big jungle of metal and wires.. he didn't understand any of it.
"Doc, before you get frustrated, you might wanna look behind you.." the cyborg spoke, almost putting emotion into his words.
Stronach glanced over his shoulder.
And there she stood, just as terrifying as the first time.
...
Stronach grimaced, but he couldn't put his finger on why. He should be remembering something.. something not so good.. whatever, it wasn't there. Who gives a shit about the narrative when you're an amnesiac?
Amnesia! That was it. That was what he was supposed to be researching that day.
Souls too.. the effect souls have on amnesia.. weird topic, huh?
Something pulled him out of his thoughts. Two flames were burning through his skull. He looked around, and.. oh god. He saw them again.
