The day of your mother's funeral was one you would never forget.

It was the day all the questions you wished you'd never asked had been answered.

There was a burial. You sat next to your youngest aunts because they were the only ones who actually hugged you when you cried. People you didn't recognize came up to your father and offered their condolences, but not before kissing his ring, a gesture you'd gotten used to seeing over the years.

There was a wake at your house. Two of your uncles stayed by the front door to check out who came in and left.

Your father was in his study. Different people went in and out constantly. You sat near the top of the stairs, away from everybody, watching your uncles walk out to go bring someone new with them into the study. It went on exactly like that for what seemed like forever.

Then something new happened.

One of your uncles came over and told you your father wanted to see you in the study. Everytime that happened, he gave you bad news. The thought of going back in there made your stomach churn. You wanted nothing more than to just sink into yourself and disappear.

But you couldn't say no.

You got up and went into the study. He told your uncles and aunts to leave and they did.

"Y/N, it's time I told you about the family business."
