Rules

You quickly pulled your hand away and cleared your throat.

Focus, Y/N. You have a job to do. Don't get caught up. Remember the rules.

"So where are you headed to?" He asked.
"Same place the bus is." You answered.

Never be too friendly. Don't get attached.

"Oh haha. Smart." He said.
You looked at him, confused. Most people would just stop talking to you after your classic cold remark.
"My type of humor." He continued.

And he kept talking. Just little things here and there. You gave short answers and little add-ins.

But he kept talking. And you had an urge to answer or tell him things and you didn't know why.

After a while, you figured this: you could talk, just don't give anything away. There's no harm in talking, right?

So you did. The bus ride was long, so you were able to learn more about your seat partner.

His name was Jung Hoseok. He had six other roommates: all guys. He lived in the city but was visiting family. This was his bus ride back. He worked at a tattoo parlor with another one of his roommates.

As for you, Y/F/N  Y/L/N, you were apparently a college student moving to the city for school. You only had one bag because everything else had been delivered to your apartment already.

That's it. That's all he needed to know. Never share too much.

After a while, the bus finally arrived. You were glad because now you could escape from Hoseok's questions and his stupid confusing smile.

But that also meant you were alone now. You of course had no idea where your apartment was, so you decided to use your new phone's GPS.

It would've been helpful if it actually worked. Nothing was loading and when it did, it was definitely the wrong place. You were sure of that.

Now you started to panic. You were alone, for the first time in your life, hours away from home, lost. You took a deep breath and started to think. You tried to think about the best way to get to your apartment, but of course you had no idea where anything was.

You went outside to try and catch a cab. Maybe if you just told them the address they would know where to go.

Yeah, that didn't go so well. It was pouring outside. Any cab that did manage to see you just drove right past. You stood out there for ten minutes to no avail.

You walked back into the station, cold and wet. You sat in a chair and tried to think.

Think. All these years, all this training, and you almost had a panic attack five minutes away from home. Great. Okay no, think. Think. How can I get home?

You looked up at the bus schedule. Buses didn't run near your apartment

Cabs didn't stop for you.

You were trained not to get into cars with strangers. Too many people were already after you.

You put your head into your hands and groaned.

"You okay, Y/N?"

You looked up to meet the voice.

Hoseok.

Even better. There really is no escape.

"Just peachy." You answered.

You couldn't tell him what was actually happening, he would just offer to give you a ride, but sarcasm always welcome in your book.

"Oh, is your ride not here yet either?" He asked sitting down next to you.
Oh Hoseok, you talk too much for your own good, but just enough for mine.
"Yeah." You answered.
"I'll wait with you."
Nooooo. My gosh, does he not see me being rude to him?
"You don't have to. I'm leaving soon."
"It's okay. I am too."

You internally sighed and wished for death as he continued to talk. He asks too many questions. Like "So around where do you live?" You still gave him short answers.
"Near campus." He couldn't take the hint and continued talking to you after that too.
"Which campus?" The ruder you were, the sooner he would leave right? You couldn't have people around. More people equals more attention you don't need.
"Mine."
"You're feisty, huh? I like that."
Pervert. He had to be, right? No one keeps up a conversation like this with someone who answers like me for this long.
"So what are you majoring in?" He asked.
That's it.

You grabbed your bags and got up.
"My ride ditched me. I'm walking back. Nice meeting you." With that, you walked away from Hoseok. Finally having rid yourself of him once and for all.

More like for ten seconds.

"Y/N! Wait!"
Please, I'm begging. Someone put me out of my misery. Get me away from this friendly, hospitable fool.

You debated not even turning around, but he ran up next to you before you could do anything. You kept your stare straight ahead and kept walking.

"I'll walk home with you." He offered.
"You don't have to."
"It's getting late and you don't know your way around the city. It's dangerous."
"I can take care of myself."
"I'm sure you can. You seem like the type of person to slap anyone that looked at you wrong." He nervously laughed. You didn't. "Please, just let me walk you home. I would feel terrible if something happened to you."

You walked out of the bus station with Hoseok next to you and looked around. It was dark out, but there were still cars around. People were walking on the sidewalk. It's a big city. There would be people out all night. You looked at Hoseok. Something wasn't right. There was no need for him to walk you home. Behind him, you saw a noticed a small black car, like the ones your dad owned.

Your stomach dropped but your facial expression didn't change.
"Hoseok, I'll be fine." That part was a lie.
"Are you sure? Do you have mace, or pepper spray?"
"Yes." That part wasn't. You stepped a little to the side to make sure Hoseok covered you from the car. Right now, even though he may be completely oblivious, you couldn't trust him. You couldn't trust anyone.
"Here." He said reaching into his pocket and handing you a lighter. "Take this, just in case mace doesn't work or something."
No time to argue, even though that was a kind of dumb thing to offer you. You put the lighter in your hoodie pocket, thanked him, and walked away. Hoseok didn't have anything to do with the car. He wouldn't have armed you if he did.

You put your hoodie up to make sure they didn't see your face. You were sure there car was following you now.

You only stayed on sidewalks that were crowded. You took more turns than necessary.

After fifteen minutes of heart-pounding regular paced walking, you led the car into traffic. You thought your luck had run out with that when you finally caught a cab heading the opposite way.

Your chase was over almost as soon as it had started. You were finally safe, for now.

But there was still someone out there that knew you were in town, and they were after you.
