It is believed to be haunted and has quite horrific tales to tell— and one of these is its floating white lady.

A ghost of a beautiful woman is said to be roaming the road, searching for her long lost love. According to witnesses, the ghost would show up in the passenger’s seat and scare the drivers away.

However, according to a UP professor (who wishes to remain unnamed), the eerie urban myth is precisely that, a myth. Balete Drive's dreadful tale is a story fabricated by then-students to test whether it would go on to reach urban legend status—and indeed, the rumor spread like wildfire.

The social experiment was a success, it became the subject of several Pinoy horror flicks. In 1998, a full length movie titled “Hiwaga sa Balete Drive” premiered on the big screens and scared Filipino movie goers to death.
