"Eros?" Liam asked softly. It was him, he was sure of it.
"It is me, my love. But please, when I am in your world, call me by my mortal name. Niall," Eros raised his hand up to Liam's face. "My precious Ares. It is time for you to come home. Your father misses you dearly."
"What do mean by that?" Liam asked softly. "Who is my father?"
"Not important right now," Eros whispered. "What's imprtoant is that you get up because your friend is giving you strange looks. I'll see you tonight and we'll find another place to meet." Eros, or Niall, gave him a small kiss on the lips before pushing Liam off of him.
Liam stumbled to his feet and gave Eros a goofy grin before helping him up and pulling him into a hug. "I'll see you tonight," he whispered.
"Who was that?" Zayn wiggled his eyebrows at Liam. "You two seemed to know each other."
"Old friend," Liam grinned. "Haven't seen him in a while." Something in his heart told him that maybe they were old friends.

The rest of the day was inpeccably borning; all Liam really wanted to do was sleep. Not because he was tired, but because he wanted to see Eros and know when they would be able to meet again. As soon as they got home, Liam headed straight for his bedroom.
"Where are you going?" Zayn asked sternly. Liam turned to see his best mate standing there like his mother would, hands on hips and a stern look.
"I'm going to nap. I'm knackered, mate," Liam almost whined. This was one of the few instances when Liam wished he lived alone so he could sleep whenever he pleased.
"It's almost five pm. You are not going to nap now! I want to watch a film before supper! Please?" Zayn begged. although he sounded begging, Liam knew that he really had no room to deny Zayn.
"Alright, fine! Just something short, okay? I feel like I could fall asleep in my food." Liam yawned, just for the effect.
"Oh, come on, you ninny!"

Steadily, one movie some how turned into four and small dinner became enough chinese takeout for five, and Liam was upset. Not upset because he didn't have a great night, but rather upset because he had missed some of his time with Niall.
"Eros?" Liam called out. The golden boy was nowhere in sight. They were placed in a brilliant field now. It was full of flowers of all colors.
"Over here, Ares!" Eros, or Niall (this is getting confusing, Liam thinks), calls from within the meadow. Liam had no idea how he was supposed to find the boy. The meadow's grass came up to his knees! And because of how small Eros was, it would easily cover his head if he were sitting down.
"Over where, love?" Liam, or Ares (he really was confused), called back out. Suddenly, Eros popped out of the grass three feet in front of Liam with a small giggle. He had flowers stuck in his hair.
"Would you sit with me? I have a story that I think you should hear." Eros grabbed Liam's hand and led him through the tall grasses to a spot where it was much more manageable. They sat and Eros took both of Ares' hands in his own. "There once was a small boy. He was merely a child. Oh, the gods loved him and cherished him. Of course, they had to. For he was the son of Mighty Zeus and Lady Hera. He was a beautiful baby.
"Gods came from everywhere to shower the boy with gifts. Even Hades, lord of the Underworld, came to give the boy something. Lord Poseidon gave him strong bearings at sea, and Lady Aphrodite gave him beauty in it's purest form. Lady Athena gave him brains. Oh, I could go on and on about the gifts. I was a wee boy myself, but I remember giving the small boy a gift, too.
"And Lord Hades was left to give him the biggest gift, or curse, however you take it, of all. I wish I could tell you exactly what he said, love, but my mother wisked me from the room as soon as she saw Hades enter. I stayed and played with the Muses. My small hands could do wonders with a lyre. I remember the sky turning a deep red color and everyone in the hall screaming. Erato, the muse of love poetry, took me and ran. We ran for cover for one of my mother's temples, knowing no bad magic would be able to enter.
"My mother told me later of the curse Hades placed on the boy. He was struck down from Olympus and was never to return until he had found one thing. True love. Hades was horribly bitter about the whole fact that he had never had a true love story. Sure, there was Persephone, but that was more of a kidnapping. Or so I've heard. That was before my time.
"But the boy was struck down and not to return until he had found true love. Zeus tried for years to track his son down and reclaim him to Olympus, but it was not his time. And then, about three weeks ago, he showed up. Zeus held another meeting and demanded once more that his son be brought home. And my mother volunteered for me to come.
"So that is the story of you, my dear Ares. You were struck down from Olympus as a mere child and forced onto someone's doorstep to live a life not made for an Olympian. I was sent because I am the god of love. Now, we cannot leave until you have found love in it's truest form. So what shall we do? The gates will not open for you. You have reached your twentith year. Zeus misses you dearly. Hera, well, I think she could probably care less. but you are his son, my Ares. So what will you do?"
