"What kind of phone would you suggest?" Niall asked slowly as if the man over the counter didn't quite understand him.

"Probably an iPhone 5s, mate. It's the most expensive phone here, but it's also the best!" The boy-or man, Niall didn't have a clue-was smacking on his food. It was a bit hard to understand him.

"How expensive, exactly?" He thought about the pocket full of mortal money that his mum had sent him last night. He had absolutely no clue how much she had sent him, but it was probably enough.

The boy over the counter said some odd number with too many zeros for Niall's liking. The blonde gasped. "That much for a piece of metal?" He squeaked. The boy sadly nodded and went back to the back to get one. Niall felt like banging his head across the counter, but he paid for the phone in full anyway.

Next up was the birth certificate. Where would he get one of those? Oh, if only he could call Liam on this contraption and ask! He figured that he would just ask his mother if she could make him up one later.

Now that he had everything done for the day, his tummy rumbled. Of course; just when everything was going right, he had to get hungry! Niall had yet to try any mortal food, but he was running low on ambrosia and nectar, so he decided that maybe he should give it a chance.

Niall walked into the nearest place that looked like a food joint; the yellow arches were so bright, they burned his eyes and made him question why he continued to stare at them. People walked out of the building with bags of something in their hands, so he decided it couldn't be that bad.

"What is a Big Mac?" He wondered to himself, staring up at the first thing on the menu. It looked like some sort of sandwich, minus all the meat. What was with mortals and meat? It made Niall shiver. He decided to order that and the Mcnuggets. What was the Mc about? Was it a trend with the mortals? "Gods, I hope I don't have to stay here long. This is insanity."

"What can I get you?" A fat, scruffy man asked from behind the counter. Niall looked up at the menu and back at the man before opening his mouth.

"I'd like a Big Mac and the, er, Mcnuggets? And can I get three Mccookies with that?" Niall asked sheepishly. The scruffy man looked at him bizarrely.

"It's just 'cookies'," he muttered before nodding and taking Niall's money before screaming "Next!" and forcing Niall to move out of line.

He looked at the big number printed on the paper-mortals used paper. From trees! That is dreadful, Niall thought-the scruffy man gave him. Someone shouted out the number, and Niall took his food to one of the tables to sit alone.

He opened up the cardboard container-yes, cardboard. Are they purposely trying to ruin their world?!-that held his Big Mac. It was nothing like the picture. On the picture on the menu, the sandwich was beautiful, with a fluffy bun and perfect little seeds and the lettuce placed with perfection. This was a run-over-by-a-semi version of the sandwich on the menu. And there were no seeds! But looking at it made Niall's tummy rumbled yet again, so he lifted it to his mouth and bit down.

The taste was indescrible, and before Niall even realized it, the sandwich was gone. He almost cursed loudly in Greek at whoever took the perfection that was in his hands, but a bit of grease dripped off his nose and he realized... he was the one to eat it.

He sighed, but opened up his other cardboard box that held the Mcnuggets. What were Mcnuggets, anyway? A nugget of what? Celery? Mmm, celery sounded yummy right about now. Niall examined the food before he pressed it to his nose, sniffing it a bit. It smelled like cooking oil and grease. Wonderful. Very slowly, Niall licked it.

"The fuck are you doing, mate?" A fairly grumpy teenager shouted from the table across from Niall's. He quickly shoved the nugget into his mouth and gave a grin before looking down.

The nugget of whatever filled his taste buds wonderfully. It wasn't as amazing as Big Mac, but the other nine nuggets were quickly finished off and Niall was onto the cookies.

He nibbled on one before deciding it was too sweet for his taste at the moment, so he shoved the package into his trouser pocket for later before leaving the wonderful place with the golden arches.

"What am I to do now?" He sighed, shoving his hand into the pocket he had put the cookie in and walking down the busy street. It was about two in the afternoon, he supposed. Was it an appropriate time to get what the mortals called "coffee''?

He had heard his mother talking about it once, and how delicious it was. Once, just once, out of curiousity he conjured up at cup of some sort of coffee and drank a sip. It was horribly bitter but surprisingly good. He wanted more, but all the elder gods cautioned him against mortal food.

"It is horrible for you," they stated, shaking their heads disapprovingly. "They do not understand that meat is valuable. They eat it greedily." And the Olympians would shove some sort of Greek salad in your face.

Niall headed down the street to where he remembered the coffee shop he had found Ares in to be. It was almost empty as he walked through the doors.

The menu itself had so many items on it, how was anyone to choose? It was impossible! Finally, he settled on some sort of vanilla with coffee drink, finding that they had spelled his mortal name wrong on the cup. He sighed and sat alone for the second time that day.

"Eros?" He heard an familiar voice ask. "It's me, Apollo!" He looked up into bright green eyes that were way too close to his for Niall's liking.

"Please, call me Niall. It is my mortal name," he sighed. "Now, why are you here?"
