"Hmm, five shillings to stay the night," the tavern clerk said from behind the counter as he eyed the young lady.  She was short,  very short like 4'8 she could pass for a dwarf if she really wanted to do so.

Temperance nodded her hands behind her back as she muttered an incantation so low only she could hear. a bag of coins appearing in her hands.  She was smart she kept her money elsewhere and would use magic to take an amount from the location.  Sure magic was forbidden by the dark lord and had some unsavory consequences but she didn't give a flying rats ass.  Besides she mostly spent her time making potions so she considered herself cautious still.

Temperance had raven black hair that flowed down her back,  she had it cut short one time and dyed it brown with magic.  Magic truly did have endless uses but it was back to normal.  She also had emerald eyes that glinted with mischievous intentions and a grin that would make the best of us think she was plotting something. Temperance was twenty-one in age and already had given up most people.

Bitch, monster, a practice of black magic. Etc.  She had been called it all throughout her life and even came from a household of a family of no magics who despised their own child for being born with magic.  Bad memories indeed,  the beatings and labor alone as her parents sat back enjoying their lives.

Temp handed the man behind the counter the bag of coins.  "five silver shillings I'm sure you'll find them in there" the man, of course, picked up the small bag and opened it looking inside before grabbing a key and tossing it across the counter.  "fifth room on the right miss"

Temperance nodded subtly taking the key before pocketing it and heading up the stairs.  She walked forward four rooms and stopped at the fifth by unlocking the door and opened it.  What she was met with was...  Well, she saw someone sneaking in through the window into her room with a hood and cloak on and narrowed her eyes. "excuse me what do you think you're doing" she wanted to just conjure a fireball before even getting the answer to send the cloaked figure right out the window.

Jess fell onto her side and into the room when she heard the voice. Quickly pushing herself up and drawing a dagger at the speaker.  "why I didn't have anywhere to stay,  didn't expect this room to have someone in it,  how about I just grab a few things and make my dramatic exit!"

"You mean steal?" temperance's soft but deep voice spoke irritably.  "your not stealing anything from this room I would advise you leave" the witch growled out irritation showing from her facial expression and body movement.

"well about that,  I'm not going back out this window soooo" jess bolted for the door after grabbing something next to her and threw the object she had grabbed at temperance's head sliding under her when she went to hold her head from the instantaneous pain.

Temperance let go of her head irritably and grumbled under her breath if magic was allowed she would have conjured a shield or attack but that wouldn't be smart, low-level magic and potions it was "well wasn't she just a bundle of sunshine" she slammed the door to her room irritated.

Jessica stopped at the end of the hall to catch her breath and glanced behind her shoulder to see if the woman had followed her.  Nope all clear.  She pulled out a lock pick kit from her left pocket and began to pick the lock to the door at the end of the hall listening in to hear the click of the door being unlocked.  When she did she pushed the door open and walked in closing the door behind her she pulled down her hood. "well wasn't today a lovely day" she seethed leaning a chair under the door handle and collapsing onto the bed.  If anyone wanted into the room she would surely awake by their efforts to open the door. Such a clever move and she could finally get some rest after her long day.  She had stolen a good amount,  a few items,  shillings.  She could sell the items for money later.
