Today was their day. Their day to leave their small town and explore the world. Well more like Pennsylvania but it's pretty much the same thing after years in their hometown. So when the alarm clock went off in the morning, Emma immediately sprung up and jumped into the shower to get ready for the graduation that'll be happening in less than four hours.
After she exits the shower with the towel wrapped around her body, Emma enters her room and was scared half to death by her smiling boyfriend.
"What the hell are you doing here?!" Emma laughs, walking towards Killian with a smile on her face. He stands up to greet her, giving her a big hug.
"Well your folks let me in and told me to go upstairs, but i didn't realise what was going on up here." he smirks, with a sparkle in his eyes. They were madly in love and there was no way either of them could hide it.
She punches his shoulder, "not funny!" but she couldn't hold back her smile on her face. She leans in slowly planting a kiss on his lips. Not hesitating, Killian returned the kiss, which soon became heated with Killian backing up to sit on the bed with emma in his lap.
"You should probably get dressed." He smiles, lips centimeters apart from hers. Emma nods pushing herself up and walking to her closet. She dropped the towel and put on her simple white dress and heels and walked back out to her room where Killian awaited, in his nice shirt and pants.
"You ready, love?" He asks putting his arm out. She nods, linking arms with him and walk down the stairs where her parents were sitting with their cap and gowns on the island. After pictures were taken, they drove to the school to be met by their friends.
"Hey grad!" Regina squeals, running over to Emma and giving her a hug.
"We finally did it!" Emma smiles wide. After four long years they finally made it out of this place and the couldn't help but be happy and sad at the same time. They made a lot of memories at this place they called hell and not all of them were that bad. Emma and killian has their first kiss against the lockers in their sophomore year, Regina getting voted class president - or queen as she likes to call it. Robin and Regina got together at a party, then they broke up because of robins ex causing trouble, but there was no way of staying apart for long and they reunited. And Zelena, well Zelena has done some interesting things in her high school years but the best thing she has done was be a part of a friend group that loves and accepts each other. And they will continue to do that even if they all aren't going to the same colleges.
"Group hug!" Zelena says enthusiastically, putting her arms out.
"I don't...I don't hug." Killian shakes his head with a smile on his face.
"Oh, get over yourself!" Regina pulls all her friends in for a hug. This is it, Regina is heading to UPenn, Robin is going to Penn State with Emma and Killian and Zelena, well she, being the little smarty pants that she is, got into Yale. They were all beyond excited to get their fresh starts and most of them were even pretty close.
After the ceremony, Mary Margaret begins to take pictures of the group of friends before the kids head over to a restaurant for a celebratory dinner. On the drive to Olive Garden, Emma, Killian, Regina, Zelena and Robin laughed like there was no tomorrow. Like the one of the biggest milestones of their lives didn't just happen. It was just an average day. And they all hoped it stayed like that, but deep down, as much as they try to hide it, people mature, things change and in a few years they may not even be that close anymore. But who knows? After years of such a strong bond shared between five people, maybe nothing could change at all.
"Hi, welcome to Olive Garden, how many?" The hostess asks sweetly as the group walks in.
"Five," Emma replies, following the hostess down the isles to a table meant for five. They thank her and sit down in the chairs, opening up the thick book like menus. They each ordered a plate of salad and a lot of pasta.
"I still have to pack my entire room!" Regina groans, putting her head in her hands.
"Dude, I haven't even thought about it." Emma replies with a sight laugh, pushing her fork in her mouth, everyone else laughs as well. "I can't believe we're actually leaving this place." she looks at everything around her. The familiar faces, the memories. As fast as she wanted to leave her, was about the same amount of time for her to realize how much she is going to miss everyone and everything. It was scary. None of them, except Killian, have been out of their small town and everything seemed so surreal.
"I know it's just so... so..." Robin trails off.
"Scary? Unreal? Exciting?" Killian starts spitting words out, trying to complete Robin's sentence.
"All of the above." They burst into a fit of laughter.
At the end of the night they all split up and head home to prepare for the rest of their lives because in less than two months, they're all going to be gone.
Five Years Later
"Miss Mills, you have a call." a frightened assistant sticks her head inside the office of the most powerful woman in New York City.
"Who is it?" Regina says deeply staring at her assistant and removing her stylish glasses from her face. Jenny, her PA, steps into the giant black and white decorated office, practically shaking in her designer thigh high boots.
"She said she was a friend from high school, Emma, Emma Swan."
A deep sigh leaves her blood red lips, "transfer it, please." Regina picks up her phone and places it to her ear.
"Regina, hey." Emma says happily.
"What do you want?" Regina knew when she said it she shouldn't have but she couldn't help it, she was still pissed at Emma for what happened in junior year college.
"Nice to hear from you too." Emma scoffs, "I was just calling to see how your life was, but I guess worrying about each other's feelings died when our friendship did."
"Yeah, well my life would've been much better if it hadn't been for you." Regina slams the phone down on the machine.
On the other side of the phone, Emma sat on the park bench, by herself wishing high school could come back to her. She lost the four most important people in her life in college. After everything that happened, her life was sort of empty. At the moment, she was taking off of her job as a bail bondsperson to watch her four year old brother. Yes, you heard that right, Mary Margaret and David had a son after Emma's freshman year in college. James Nolan was an exact copy of his father.
"Emmie, I wanna go home to see mommy." James whines, running up to emma and tugging on her red leather jacket. After Emma graduated from college, her parents moved with her to a small town in Maine called Storybrooke.
"Ok buddy, let's go." Emma smiles down at her little brother, placing her hand in his.
"And I want to see daddy. Especially daddy. I love daddy." James babbles on saying random stuff. Emma couldn't help but laugh. Even though he is only four, he is the only one there for Emma. After her and Regina just weren't friends anymore, everything else went downhill. Liam decided to be an ass again and took Killian to Ireland... for good. So they were forced to break up. They could've worked for a long distance relationship, but Liam wouldn't let that happen. In the end, they both had decided that they should just call it quits. Their plans for life have changed so much and Emma has all but give up hope.
