Chani is the shy, quiet guy at school. No one really knows him, and sometimes it feels like he doesn't even really know himself. But if he does know one thing, it's that he likes his polar opposite.
Rowoon is the confident, outgoing guy...
I can't stand it, not having someone to talk to. I mean, I still have Minsoo, yes, but talking to him isn't always easy. Typically the conversation turns to his cat, sister Yuna, or (mostly) Dawon. It's always Dawon this, and Dawon that. It tends to get tiring.
I go downstairs and start looking through the fridge, just praying to see something good.
Mom walks into the kitchen in her bright pink work uniform. She's a baker, and was more then delighted when the uniforms were bright pink.
She puts some fresh cherry pie on the counter and then looks at me. She frowns.
"What's wrong, Chani?"
"Nothing." I grumble.
"Chani." She warns.
"It's nothing, Mom!" I growl.
"Kang Chani you will tell me this instance!" She demands in a scary tone of voice.
I freeze and turn to face her with a defeated sigh. I suppose I need someone to talk to. She waits patiently. I quickly sit down at the table and motion for her to sit, too. She cuts us both a slice of pie and sits with a smile.
"Well, you see, I have this situation..." I begin.
"Is this situations name Rowoon?" She smiles.
I gasp, "How-?"
"You were kind of obvious, Honey. You've been talking about him since he became your friend.
I blush.
"Are you having troubles with him?" Mom asks, taking a bite of her pie.
"Just- a few." I sigh and look away.
"Hmm, like what? You can tell me anything."
I give in. "He keeps leading me on! One second he kisses me, then avoids me, then makes another move, but doesn't really talk to me after! He gives me more mixed signals then hours Inseong and Jaeyoon bang a night!-" Mom pauses momentarily, frowning, then lets it go with a shake of her head, "-I can't stand it! And if he doesn't make a move soon, I'm just going to give up on him! Move on!" I take a deep breath.
Mom exhales, then gives me a knowing look, "Honey, maybe he gives you mixed signals because you do that to him. You're not sure if he likes you, so when he makes a move, you do too, but when he's not making moves you shy away. And don't give up on him so soon, you might just find that the best things come to those who wait." Mom smiles, then goes to the TV room to watch Master Chef.
I frown, maybe she's right. Maybe I should just wait.
But I won't wait forever, Rowoon. Make your move soon.
