Chapter Seventeen

"Dylan I can get us there quicker," Vanessa said holding his hand and using her Vampire speed to get them there quicker "the only way you can run this fast is if you're a vampire" Dylan stated. Vanessa ignored him and carried on running to Rosebrook Academy. Once they got there everything was in ruin the only place that looked exactly the same was the school. Vanessa and Dylan ran through the corridors which were full of students that wanted to get to safety "where are we going" Vanessa asked "the basement it's where Rylan and Tilly are" he replied leading her there. They pushed open the basement door causing everyone inside to look at them "what are they doing here" Dylan asked referring to the other students crowding the small room "they followed us here" Tilly said "it's fine but none of you should be down here"  Paizley said walking behind them  "why shouldn't we" Ella and her posse asked "you should be out there defending your school" Paizley said "that's what the knights are for" Ella replied taking a nail file out of her bag and beginning to file her nails down so they were nice and shiny. "The knights can't do it on their own" Dylan said before he turned around and walked outside followed by the majority of the students. Once everyone was outside they began to fight the vampires. Dylan dragged Vanessa aside and said "I can't do it" "you can do it I get it that they are your species but it's either don't do anything or you protect your school and potentially die trying but I will not let that happen" Vanessa said before running out and joining the battle. "Everybody stop" A voice boomed over the chaos "I am Count Dracula and I have come not only my son but something that was taken to me many years ago" "you're not having either" Paizley shouted as she flew up and started to attack the count "you are a stupid girl fighting me with nothing but a piece of  scrap metal" he spat "the sword is only as good as the person who wields it" Paizley replied. From below it looked like Paizley was winning that was until the Count waited until she was running out of energy giving Dracula the chance to hit Paizley with a blow causing her to fly back and collide with the school knocking her out. "Where is my son" Dracula shouted "I have to go to him" Dylan shouted to Vanessa "no you'll get hurt he's going to use you to get what he wants" Vanessa replied. Dylan kissed her on the head then ran over to his father who was standing on top of a pile of rubble "hi dad" Dylan said as he climbed up the rubble "doesn't this look nice now all we need is some hybrid blood so I can resurrect my children" Dracula asked "no it doesn't do you know why cause I never wanted this why can't you leave one place alone" Dylan said raising his voice a tiny bit "and why is that child is there someone you care about" Dracula asked "I bet it's Van Helsing's daughter" Dracula spoke his smirk increasing "Van Helsing doesn't have a daughter" Dylan argued pretending not to know who he was talking about. " I know you love her which means you need to bite her" Dracula explained "I'm not biting her she's too perfect to become a monster" Dylan spat as he saw Van Helsing creep up behind his father "watch your tongue" he said as Van Helsing came up behind him "hello Drac" Van Helsing said as he appeared behind him. Dylan knew something was about to happen so he climbed down to the 'safety' of the ground below where everyone was watching the fight between Count Dracula and Van Helsing.  Van Helsing was fighting with a wooden stake and the Count was fighting with his bare hands blocking all the attacks that were coming his way. Suddenly Helsing's body flew from the rubble to the ground below followed by a wooden stake to the heart killing him instantly. A crowd behind to develop around his body that was until Vanessa pushed through the crowd to see her father's body. "Dad" she screamed hysterically kneeling next to him, her head on his chest tears falling from her once cold eyes. Vanessa's body began to shake violently as her clothes began to flee from her body. Ebony black fur began to devour her body leaving no areas where her skin was still visible. Her eyes turned a vibrant red causing everyone to back away. Her jaw began to shake as she growled running to her father's killer. Before he had time to block her attack Vanessa dived at him her teeth digging into his skin. One eventually piecing his heart giving him the worst thing possible. A slow and painful death. Even Vampires hated those. " you're just like your father" "Vengeful" Dracula smiled as he took his last breath before he disintegrated into a pile of unwanted black dust. Vanessa turned around blood dripping from her muzzle her eyes brighter then they were before. Everyone backed further and further away till they couldn't fo no further. Dylan walked out of the line and began to walked towards Vanessa "Dylan what are doing you'll get yourself killed" Tilly shouted. Dylan carried on walking towards Vanessa as she was doing the same. Once they were close enough to smell each other's breath he rested his head on hers and whispered "Vanessa I know you're in there I'm sorry for what happened to your father but come back to us. Please. we need you here I need you here. Your the most important person here no matter what you are I don't care if your a werewolf or a wicked witch I would always love you please come back to me I don't know what I would do without you by my side". As he spoke each word all of Vanessa's memories of Dylan played in front of her eyes. The fur began to shrink until it was no longer visible, her claws began to retract into her feet and hands and her eyes changed to their normal colour. "Did you really mean what you said?" Vanessa asked looking up and Dylan who was hugging her close. "Every... Single... Word of it" he said as he realised that Vanessa was naked so he took off his shirt and put it on her. "Thank you," Vanessa said before Dylan began to reach down and kissed her. Vanessa put her hands on Dylan's cheek and deepened the kiss.

I loved writing this book so much without you guys I would of given up on writing this story. I know that at the time of writing this not many people were reading this book but thank you to those people who were here from the beginning. I love you all very very much.
