They have been looking for the camp of bandits since morning. If not for the follower she had found in Riverwood, the search would've been more complicated. "To be honest, you don't know how to search a camp... or search anything" the ranger said "how did your mom even let you out of your little castle?" he frowned.
"Just because I'm an Altmer you don't need to pull off those jokes" (y/n) replied "I'd be better off alone, now that I think of it" she was tired of the search and wanted only to rest. And Bishop didn't help at all with his taunts.
"Oh my your majesty, if I made a jest about you being an Altmer then I would've said something about the Thalmor too" he laughed. "And what would you do by being alone? Get lost in the forest and have a big bad wolf tear at your flesh?" Bishop frowned
"No, I would've found a better follower and searched for the camp by myself. Possibly a mercenary would be better than you" (y/n) replied, crossing her arms
"Woah excuse me your grace" he appeared to be surprised beyond bounds "I'm not a 'follower' of yours that is following you like a lost puppy, I'm doing you a favor because I felt bad for you" he snapped
"And yet that favor made you follow me like a lost puppy, it's all the same oh great ranger" she chuckled.
Bishop sneered and walked up to her, glaring at her while she stood unfazed. But he didn't stop in his step, his walking only stopped when (y/n) was cornered and her back against a nearby tree. The high elf rolled her eyes and attempted to step away from him, but the ranger had his arm block her path.
"I want you to say that to my face, look at me dead in my eyes and repeat those words" he said, voice cold and sounded of danger. Bishop's eyes piercing (y/n)'s like a volley of arrows.
(Y/n) had never been cornered like this, she felt scared and yet amused by the ranger's lack of modesty. "What are you going to do? Hurt me?" she teased
"Would you like to know?" he grasped her small face in his one hand and stared at her, threatening to crush her if she didn't stop.
"Hmph, seems like you have dealt with someone like me in the past before" she said. The ranger was frozen, he took a few steps back and looked away from her. Leaving a rather confused (y/n) behind. Unknowingly she had pulled a heartstring.
"Let's just continue this search" he said emptily
"I want to know" she said "there was someone like this wasn't it? Tell me" she took slow steps towards him
"I said, let's continue this damn search already" Bishop growled to see her near him
"I'm not moving till you answer me" she was stubborn, walking right up to him and locking her gaze into his
"Being stubborn isn't very ladylike, princess" he mocked
"I'm waiting for an answer" she ignored his attempts at changing the subject.
"Fine" Bishop sighed and stepped towards the tree "long before I was a ranger and stuck in Riverwood, I had someone special in my life" he started
"Did you love her?" (Y/n) smoothed her expressions and voice
"Without bounds" it seemed like it pained the ranger to even talk about this "I didn't always act like a horse's arse" he chuckled but the smile faded as soon as it appeared "I used to be kind, gentle and loving to her... only I was too kind and not stubborn enough, but what could I do? I never wanted to hurt her... and with that lack of stubbornness I had lost her" there was silence for a while, both of them couldn't believe what they had just heard.
Bishop turned to look at (y/n), who was surprised and stood in silence. Looking at him with pity and grief. "So now I don't act like the old me... for I don't want to lose that someone special again" he muttered. (Y/n) was surprised to hear that, she wondered if he truly meant them...
