Reader's POV 

You are still staring at the Valentine's invitation, being confused here and there even though you tried your best to read up all the love letters you had among your thick stack of medical textbooks that you began to feel frustrated over things here and there. 

You are having an exam on human physiology within two weeks and you really wanted to ace the exam, but at the same time, you wanted to go for a date with the person that sends all these love words to you that you didn't know what to do.

Seeing you being lost and stressed as a medical student, your parents are extremely worried that they suggested that going on that date might be a good thing, since you can't just keep on studying everyday without breaks, so you did.

You aren't the type that would dress in a very pretty way for dates, since it's not something that a medical student would do. Also, even cosmetics are forbidden in the campus, actually, so you only knew a little bit of it that you put on a rather natural makeup and headed out. 

Until then, you see a familiar figure waving at you, and you blinked again and again to see who that person is, and walked closer instead and sees Kurusu Kaoru smiling to you with a box of chocolate and a present for you. 

"I hope I didn't scare you through the letters, but here, please have these," he smiled warmly and handed out the presents. You accepted in awe, still in shock that you are actually being asked for a date from the top medical student in your class that you used to see him as a friendly rival. To think that he is the person that writes everything in the letter and makes your heart race for every few days... You just couldn't believe it.

"Is there something wrong?" he asked again, being a nice, caring person as he always been. You then tell him your thoughts, he laughs softly and tells you that it is alright, since he knew that you might react like that, he is ready for this.

He also said that he's very happy to know that you agreed to go on a date with him, and so both of you held hands and begin to walk together to a cafe that the both of you would normally go with other classmates. But since it's the examination month, nobody else among your class is willing to head out because they are afraid to be left out in their studies, unlike the two of you that aces the exams every, single time. 

Kaoru talks to you for almost everything, especially studies, and his twin brother, Kurusu Syo. Throughout the conversations, you know well enough that his twin brother is extremely important for him, since he is studying medicine just for the sake to cure Syo's heart disease.

And that makes you wonder more about the date, but you decided to continue paying attention towards the conversation between the two of you, and both of you smiled and laugh from time to time until the both of you arrived the cafe. 

"It's the first time that we are in this cafe like this, right?" he asks with a rather calm face while putting on a nice smile, and you nodded as your heart races for all of a sudden.

And it's true, it's the first time that you came to this cute little cafe with Kaoru alone, since you normally go there with your 18 other classmates. 

"How about the table over there?" he asked again, and you agreed with his decisions. Well, his choices are mostly right, so there is absolutely nothing to be worried about. 

You nervously walk towards the seat, and Kaoru pulled the chair for you, being a really caring gentleman, then sits down for a short while, "Are you hungry right now?" he asks again, and you said that you aren't too hungry. 

So both of you decided to have a cup of coffee instead, since both of you would probably be cramming for the exams after the date, too.

His eyes searched for the waitress, "Sumimasen, we wanted to place an order," he said, and orders your favorite coffee. "I hope you wouldn't mind if I order the same thing as yours..." 

A short pause.

"I would like to know how this taste, too! Syo told me that they taste nice too!" he smiled again.

Syo is still on his priority, huh...

So you asked him about the reason why he dates you, and it was the first time that you see him spacing out for an answer. He looks very cute that way, or at least that is how he seems to you right now, and you smiled. 

"I like you for many reasons, (name)." Kaoru finally spoke something, and he continues to tell you about how nice and intelligent person that you are, and he said that he couldn't lose someone like you, both his medical partner and...

His feelings for you that he kept it secret for more than half of a year ago.

You listened to his words while you fluster again and again, and the conversation between the two of you was fun and enjoyable, and he decides to pay for the meal, and the both of you decided to form a last-minute study group of two together, and your parents welcomed him home.

Since Kaoru looks trust-able to your parents, your parents left the two of you together in your study room and the two of you began to discuss from topic to topic on medicine until the two of you decides to have a short break.

Both of you lay down on the floor side by side, eyes meeting each other, and both of you flustered and...

He goes slightly closer to you and kisses softly on your cheeks.

"Arigatou, (name), for everything. I love you, and... Happy Valentines."
