Sunny Hampton's life leading up to her freshman year had already been straight out of her childhood nightmares. First her father, a sheriff's deputy, was murdered by a crazed teenage gunman, then her mother accepted a promotion to live-in nurse at Eichen House, and now her only friend doesn't share a single period with her in school, leaving her utterly alone.

It doesn't help that her mom won't acknowledge Sunny's multiple mental illnesses, not sympathizing in the slightest as her daughter finds herself falling into the deep end.

Enter Liam Dunbar, a new kid in her grade who, after an embarrassingly uncalled for first encounter, somewhat befriends her. Then he accidentally gets himself and Sunny involved in the supernatural ongoings in Beacon Hills.

Werewolves, a banshee, and a supernatural deadpool? Quite scary. But Sunny quickly learns that her life, her family, is the real horror.
