Commotion in the barn
Where is the rooster?
It's time to awaken the sunThe pigs, the hens, the cows
All angry at the callousness
Dispersed for a search
To catch the rooster by its earBut none could find the waker
Puzzled they are at his absence
Time ticks as the stars start to disappearMatter in deliberation
They all reach a conclusion
Ring the bell they will all together
Or else will have to go hungryThe cow gives a call
Everyone began their songs
The orchestra was a riot on earsSoon enough awakened the master
Who came in with a hose
And watered everyone quietA moaning silence then was ensured
He went back with his hoseHurt in pride they hung their heads
But their riot was a success
The sun began to riseWet yet happy they dare not make a sound
But everyone thought of the rooster
And his mysterious absenceBut only the dog did know
Because the bones he did lick
The rooster was dressed in a platter at dinner yesterday.
