TEN | HAZEL LEVESQUE
"Guys, you have no idea what I had gone through because when I went to the temple and Jason wasn't there then someone's like, 'Jason isn't here, you know' and I thought that a monster would swallow me whole but then I turned around and the one who talked to me was like, you know, JUPITER! And I was like, 'whoa, okay. Are you sure buddy? I mean you kinda look like a graecus' and then he got mad but then he shot me with his lightning bolt and he said 'get the whole outfit now?' and after that he told me, 'you need to help Jason, he's currently being fried chickened by a giant and a talking bear' and I--"
"Frank, I need you to calm the Styx down!" Annabeth intervened. The daughter of Athena looked like she was on the brink between fits of laughter or utter exasperation. Hazel couldn't really tell the difference.
"Talking bear? Fried chickened?" Percy asked emphasizingly. His expression looked similar as Annabeth's, but with more probability of laughing. "Frank, are you high?"
Annabeth shot him a look.
"Right. Sorry, shouldn't have said that." The son of Poseidon apologized.
"Okay, just calm down and talk slowly." Hazel said to the son of Mars with a soothing tone.
"Al--" Wheeze. "--right." Frank caught his breath at the middle of the word. He looked like he was going to have an asthma attack, but then when he inhaled once again, Hazel saw that his breathing had gone from sporadic to steady.
"Come on and sit down." Hazel said as she took his hand and led him to the lounge, while the others trailed behind them. She noticed that the son of Mars smelt like that of burned lightning, which probably explained the tattered and smoldering shirt and the messy hairdo (which would totally been a crazy Mohawk, but then Frank's hair isn't that long.) However, the reason as to why he smelt of lightning, that she didn't know.
She sat on the couch and pulled him next to her, never letting go of his hand. He looked troubled and confused and his eyes hold the faintest hint of anxiety. He took another deep breath.
"Talk to me." She whispered.
"Leo, fetch him some water, please?" Piper ordered with a blatant tone of charmspeak. Without any second thought or complaint, the son of Hephaestus ran to the kitchen to do what he was told. Hazel noticed that the daughter of Aphrodite was fighting off a smirk, but it was gone after a split second.
"Now, can you tell us what happened?" Piper said. "Where's Jason? I-It's been four hours and you guys--"
"Let him talk first, Piper." Annabeth ordered. The daughter of Aphrodite pursed her lips to keep herself from throwing a tantrum in front of everybody.
"Guys, Athens is really bad. The monsters...they're everywhere." Frank shuddered at the memory. "I had to go and find Jason at the Temple of Zeus, but he wasn't there and--"
"Where is he?" Leo asked the moment he entered the room, his tone with the slightest hint of perturbation and...accusation? Hazel hoped that wasn't it. He set the glass of water in front of Frank, and pressed his back on the wall across them. Hazel knew that he was probably struggling to look cool and patient and not worried, but he wasn't doing a very good job, judging by the way his fingers trembled slightly and made an effort to hide it inside the pockets of his jacket so that nobody would notice.
