"Oi, lover boy!"
Ashton jerked his head up at the sound of Calum's voice, zoning back into the conversation happening around him and turning to see the amused smirk on the boy sat next to him.
"It's rude to stare."
"Fuck off," Ashton muttered, taking a bite from the untouched pizza on his plate, partly annoyed because Calum had interrupted his staring and partly annoyed because Calum had noticed him staring.
"Who were you looking at?" Michael asked from opposite, making Ashton blush slightly and suddenly take an interest in the bracelets around his wrist.
He braved a glance around, relieved that Calum seemed to be the only one in the school cafeteria to notice him staring, before answering, "no-one."
Obviously not believing him, Michael and Luke both spun around in their seats, looking in the same direction Ashton had been.
"Subtle, guys," Ashton rolled his eyes, throwing a fry from his plate at Luke's head in an attempt to get them to turn back around. "Thanks."
"Ava Summers?" Luke asked, his face confused as he threw a fry back at Ashton, smirking and quietly fist pumping the air as it hit him straight in the eye.
"No," Ashton lied, flipping Luke the middle finger before covering his eye with his hand.
"Yes," Calum countered, laughing at the one-eyed glare Ashton shot him.
"I definitely would," Michael nodded, sneaking another glance at her.
She was only two tables behind them, sat with her friends Hanna and Tom. She hadn't noticed either of the four boys looking at her (which Ashton silently thanked God for) as she laughed at something Tom had said, her long, light brown hair falling over her shoulders as she did so.
"Her legs are fucking amazing," Michael added, drawing them all back to their conversation. "I'm serious," he continued, and Ashton was considering punching him in the throat to get him to stop talking, "I had gym with her last year. Nearly had to leave because she gave me a bone-"
"Please, just..." Ashton shook his head as he ran his fingers through his messy blond hair, interrupting Michael, "shut the fuck up."
"Why are you looking at her, anyway?" Luke asked, finishing the fries on his plate and leaning back, slouching in the plastic chair his 6 foot frame seemed entirely too big for.
"I wasn't. I zoned out," Ashton replied, taking a drink of his water because he knew he was a shit liar and his face was usually what gave him away.
"Bold-faced lie," Calum scoffed, making Ashton wonder if killing him would be worth the jail time. "He's been in love with her for about a year."
"I'm not in love with her," Ashton quickly interjected, shaking his head so fast he almost gave himself whiplash.
The jail time would definitely be worth it.
"Aw, does Ashton have a crush?" Michael teased, leaning forward to pinch one of Ashton's cheeks.
"I don't even know her," Ashton groaned, swatting Michael's hand away and slouching down in his own chair.
"You knew her well enough to make out with her," Calum pointed, finding the whole situation a lot more amusing than Ashton.
"You what?" Luke and Michael shouted, at the same time Ashton stuck his fist out and hit the boy next to him.
"Last year at Sean's party," Calum continued, laughing through the pain whilst holding his hands over his side where Ashton's hand had hit. "Caught them in a room, well on the way to third base."
