"Tell me about yourself, Summers."
Ava leant forwards to see Ashton past her brother, who they'd been dragging along now for at least a minute in a silence that was awkward but not unbearable.
"Summers?" She quirked an eyebrow.
"That's your last name, is it not?"
"Alright, Irwin," she countered, focusing back on the path in front of her. Ava had a tendency to be quite clumsy - the amount of times she'd tripped over her own feet was unbelievable, and she really didn't want to embarrass herself in front of a hot boy who she barely knew. "What do you want to know?"
"I don't know. Favourite song, favourite film, any weird fetishes..."
"Favourite song is Backseat Serenade by All Time Low."
"Nice," he nodded approvingly, glad it wasn't a Justin Bieber song.
Why so many girls were obsessed with him, he didn't quite understand.
"Favourite film is Drop Dead Fred," Ava continued, and Ashton scoffed.
"Are you serious?"
"What?" She asked, confused.
"That's, like, the worst film ever," Ashton shook his head, although she couldn't see him.
"It's a classic!" She argued.
It might not have been up there with actual classics, but it was a classic to her. She'd watched it almost every night when she was younger.
"It's shit."
"As opposed to..."
"Scarface," Ashton replied, "obviously."
"Never seen it," Ava shrugged, and Ashton gasped dramatically.
"You've never seen Scarface? That's shameful, Summers," he shook his head in mock disappointment.
"You never told me your favourite song," she pointed, and he turned to look at her.
"Under the Bridge by the Chili's."
"Chilli's are spicy," Ryan mumbled, apparently now an active part of the conversation.
"They're amazing live," Ava nodded, ignoring Ryan.
"You've seen them?!" Ashton asked, leaning forward extra far so he could properly see her.
"My dad used to listen to them a lot when I was younger. They toured when I was, like, twelve, so he took us," Ava shrugged.
"I'm jealous. Next time they're in town, you're taking me instead," Ashton said, before his dimples returned paired with his smirk and a wiggle of his eyebrows. "You never told me your weird fetishes."
"Ropes and blindfolds," Ava answered, completely deadpan as she kept eye contact with him.
"What?" Ashton asked, his face dropping.
"I'm kidding," she laughed, and he couldn't help but laugh as well (although his laugh was more of a giggle, and Ava would set it as her ringtone if that wasn't creepy or stalker-ish. Ashton had an infectious laugh; no matter who heard it, they couldn't help but laugh with him). "I don't think I have any. What about you?"
Ashton shrugged, shaking his head.
"No daddy kinks that I should be aware of?"
"Definitely not," Ashton laughed, just as they arrived outside of Ava and Ryan's apartment block.
