I close my literature book and look over at a fast asleep Chris. My handsome boyfriend. I traced my fingers along his jawline for a while as I soon felt like falling asleep. I guess our 'study' plans didn't happen anyways.

I hear the front open and then shut. I know for a fact that if that was his mom, she would've called out. My eyes knitted and I sneakily went by the door.

"I just need my money." I recognized Brad's voice.

"What money? I got those for free." Melody scoffed, annoyance in her tone.

Why do I always find myself in the middle of drama?

"That was when we were fucking and I didn't have a problem." This guy is an absolute sadist. "Now that that's not happening, I want my money."

"That's not fair, Brad." She sighed as she stepped closer to him. "I can give you all that again."

He gives her a teasing smirk. "Nope. I'm done with you." He chuckled. "You come by the house with my money on Sunday and I'll leave you alone."

He pats her cheek before strutting downstairs and then I hear the door slam shut.

"What was that all about?" I removed myself from by the door and approached her.

She looked up at me and rolled her eyes. I almost forgot about her hatred for me.

"Ugh, why are you always here?" She ran a hand through her hair. "It's none of your business."

"Is Brad a dangerous man? Like real dangerous?" I pushed because I just want to ensure I'm not in any shit with this pyshco.

"He's in a gang." My heart dropped. A gang? I really know how to find drama. I mean, he's beyond dangerous if he's in a gang. "And if I don't have his two thousand dollars by Sunday, I'm pretty sure he's going to come kill everyone in this house."

My eyes widened. "Melody how do you owe him two thousand dollars?"

She shrugged casually. "Drugs."

I nodded with a disappointed look. All for drugs. People really do stupid stuff for that shit. And people also do stupid things for love.

"I can help you, Melody." I said lowly.

"What are you talking about?" She deadpanned.

"I can get you the two thousand dollars by Friday, okay. Just leave Chris out of this. He'll go nuts if he finds out." I told her and she nodded.

She took a few moments to just stared at me by talking. "Why are you even helping me? I'm always mean to you."

I thought for a second. She is always mean to me when all I do is show kindness towards her.

"Because Chris loves you a lot and it would break his heart if something bad were to happen to you." I shrugged.

"Well, thanks." She smiled and it was in fact, a genuine one.

Next day at school I was thinking about how I'm going to give Melody that two thousand dollars on Friday. I'd have to remove two grand from my savings and then earn back a next two grand so my Mom won't notice.

The earning part is going to be quite hard for me to do.

I closed my locker and began to make my way to the lunch room. I haven't seen Chris since morning and he hasn't been answering my calls so I'm anxious to know what excuse he has now.

I got to the table the group normally hangs at and I notice that there's no Chris.

"Where's Chris?" I asked with a curious brow.

Chase looked up at me with sad eyes. "Chris is talking to coach. About the thing." He said secretly as if I knew anything.

"What thing?" I asked.

"That thing with his..." he trailed off as he looked at me unbelievably. " He really didn't tell you?"

I shake my head and I got more impatient to hear this secret Chris did feel the need to tell me.

"He's by the gym with coach. Maybe you should go look for him."

I didn't hesitant.

I sprinted out the cafeteria and made my way to the gym. I must've looked like a mad person but I didn't care. The way Chase looked at me gave me a feeling that Chris was hurting and I wasn't there to comfort him.

I finally got to the sports office and stopped in my tracks when I see Chris speaking with Coach Wright.

"Coach, just this one game. I really don't have the energy to play on Friday." He frowned.

"Johnson, every goes through problems. Yours is just very heart breaking." Coach placed his hand on his chest. "But we need you on Friday."

Chris kept his head down and didn't answer Coach. "I'll thin about it but don't be expecting a good outcome." He snapped and turn to leave.

I hid behind a wall watching them but as he passed me, I rushed and hugged him from behind. He was shocked at first but once he recognised it was me, he instantly broke down.
