"I wanted Xen to be a supernatural being, but not a cliché one. Initially I based her off of the main factors of a regular old vampire; needing to feed off others to survive, strangely beautiful, and heightened senses much more powerful than a human's. Instead of blood, she feeds off the energy of others. This sequel will definitely explore more of her background and what happened with her people to make her flee for her life. I also wanted a dynamic relationship between her and Riddick, as they're both non-humans with extraordinary abilities. This story will delve deeper into that, as well as how they escape the sticky situations they find themselves in. It's been super fun writing it so far and I can't wait to finish."
Comments:
SM takes place during the timeframe of Pitch Black. Told from Xen (an energy vampire) pov, the story loosely follows the events of the movie. Furyan is the sequel and appears to be drawing on the story of Chronicles of Riddick.
