Sakovia was different, it was quiet, and seemed slower. Like life here operated slower then the rest of the world. It's people seemed at peace, and went about they days as if the world wasn't in turmoil. Or maybe it was cause you waited on the church steps sitting next to Wanda, fear still gripping your chest, waiting for the men who flipped your world to come back.
A blinding flash to your left caught you off guard. When your head whipped to the spot there was Steve, his clothes badly burned, the tops of wings dark grey. He looked like hell, but he was alive, and smiled when he looked over at you. Bucky stood in the spot he came in, eyes completely white, clad head to toe in silver armor. You stood from your spot and rushed over to them, throwing your arms around both men.
Steve relaxed in your touch, burying his head into your neck. His arm wrapping around your back, taking comfort in your gesture. Bucky remained stiff, his body rigid as he looked around before his head turned towards yours. You looked up into those eyes, you knew it wasn't him.
"Thank you, for bringing them back." You said softly, a small smile crossed his face before his head lifted, light coursing out of Bucky's mouth and eyes. His body went limp, and had it not been for you and Steve he would of hit the ground.
~~
It was near night fall when Bucky came to on a large bed. The room was quaint, small and rustic. He pulled himself from the bed, muscles protesting and screaming as he walked out to find you and Steve at the table. Your head snapped to his direction, smile spreading across your face as you jumped up and ran to him.
You flung your arms around him, allowing your body to mold into to him.
"You're awake." You cried into his shoulder.
"Was beginning to wonder if your ever wake, you've been out for a week." Steve said, smiling as he watched your interaction with Bucky.
"You try having arch angel take over your body, felt like I ran for a thousand years." Bucky replied drily. "Guessing we're in Sakovia."
"Yeah, Wanda brought her here cause of the accords and the arch angel brought us here cause of her." Steve explained. "What do you remember?"
"All of it, I was aware of everything going on but I had no control." Bucky responded walking with you back to the table. He sat down on the empty seat.
"Did he say anything to you?" Steve asked looking down and away.
"Yeah, kinda." Bucky nodded, you poured him something to drink. "That even though I've been restored as an angel, I'll always be considered part of the fallen. There will always be a part of me that is still demon, and I'll never be allowed back into the heavenly guard. But so long as I do good on earth, one day I'll be welcomed back in the kingdom of heaven."
"I'm sorry Bucky." Steve said, feeling guilty.
"Nah, it's all right. I don't want my place back, but I'm good with doing my work here on earth as long as I get to be here with y/n." He replied looking over, kissing your knuckles.
"I've back my grace, and since I never pledged loyalty to Hell I've been reinstated in the heavenly guard." Steve breathed, looking at the both of you. "I told him it was an honor but I would rather stay here, on earth with the both of you."
"Steve." You sighed, but the man raised his hand cutting you off.
"I've always liked earth better then heaven, I like people better then angels. Plus you know, if your going to have a demon on your shoulder, you should have an angel on the other." He smirked over to Bucky.
"Hey, I'm a two for one pretty boy." Bucky snarked back, grinning at him.
"So, that means?" You asked looking for one to the next.
"That means my work has been transferred to here on earth, saving the souls of mortals."
"It means we have to work together to help to do good in world, all while getting to see your pretty face." Bucky smirked at you.
You couldn't help your own smile, an angel and an angel with issues. Your day and night, two men who were so different from each other in the beginning were so much more alike. Whoever the arch angel was you wished you could thank him one more time for bring them home to you.
