William's POV
Dante went out to the ceremony to wait for both me and Elise. I was sitting in the study drinking the left over weak wine. I was thinking many thoughts at once: the wedding, the fun, my feelings for Ingrid, Ingrid herself, and what dress she was gonna wear. It was a storm of thoughts.
I was soon knocked back into reality by a knock at the door and a female voice behind it. It was Ingrid.
I go over to the door and opened it. In front of me was probably the most beautiful site I've ever seen. Ingrid was in an extravagant red and gold dress with a hood. It's both practical and beautiful.
Ingrid smiles at my expression, which is one of awe at her appearance. She then takes me by the hand and starts to lead me.
"Come or we'll be late" she said.
"Yes lets" I said. I then take Ingrid's arm so that she and I are locked arm and arm.
She smiles more at the gesture and we went on our way to the ceremony. By the time we reached the ceremony area, everyone was seated. Dante's parents, Elise's mom was next to them and by her other side was for her husband, Elise's dad. They were all seated on the left side of the aisle at the front. My parents also sat on the front on the right with a few other people. There was however a vacant seat next to my mom. Considering I was the best man, I didn't have a seat but instead was to stand by Dante's side. I wouldn't of had it any other way. There were about 6 more rows of people. Family or other friends of Dante and/or Elise. Holden Cross was even here which I didn't expect. I didn't know he was invited.
"Alright Ingrid I need to go to Dante's side. You go sit right next to my mom" I said pointing toward the middle aged athletic woman in the velvet dress and her hair in a bun.
Ingrid's eyes widen. "What?!" she said surprised.
"Look she doesn't know who you are to me yet. If she starts to speak with you just be respectful. She was and still is a peacekeeper so don't do anything... stupid" I say quickly before running off to Dante.
Ingrid's POV
I sigh as he left.
'There's nothing to worry about Ingrid. I'm just sitting next to William's mom. No big deal. You shouldn't be worried. You were able to beat a squad of gladiators and even then you weren't worried. Why start now?' I tell myself in my head as I waltz over to the seat next to William's mom.
I then sit down and the woman immediately looked at me. Though was gave was forward or at the priest or William or Dante, I felt it all over my like heavy rain.
I then look over at her and when she noticed me looking at her, she straightened up and cleared her throat.
"My apologies. It was rude of me to stare. It just I've never seen you before. What is your name?" she asked.
I knew then I couldn't use my real name. If I said my name, that would bring about suspicion about my true Identity. Why would an Ashfeldian have a Viking name? Good thing for me, I'm a good liar.
"Isabella. You must be William's mother correct?" I said. The woman squints her eyes slightly which made my blood run a bit cold.
"Lara Jackson" she said before extending her hand to me. I then grab her hand and shake it. "Tell me: what is your relationship with my son? I noticed you two came together holdiing each other as if you were a married couple" Lara asked.
Before answer her I quickly imagined what me and Wlliam would be liked as a husband and wife. He would going out on duty and serving the people of Ashfeld, probably making a sufficent amount of money from it and considering he's of noble background, he'll earn more money from... whatever. Me however? Maybe I'll still do what I do, reading people's fortunes and futures. Maybe... even kids. Perhaps 3? yes 3 sounds good. Or maybe 5. Just like most vikings we like sex and love making families. 3 at least, 5 at most.
"Well me and him are... dating" I said not knowing what else to say. To be honest I don't even know if we are dating. We could be but we haven't really talked about.
"Inteeresting. Now lets talk about your hair. It looks as if a Viking did it. I'm not hating it just... it's very interesting choice." she said.
'Oh you have no Idea' I thought to myself. "Well I wanted to try something different. Through out my life, I only one kind of hair stlye which was just a ponytail but then I was like 'lets experiment' and that's how hair came to be" I said. I wasn't lying too but the point where I decided to change my hair was a few months after becoming a shaman. I never really understood the trend of shamans having weird haircuts. I'm a hardcor shaman but even I have to admit they look very... out of the ordinary. Some shamans I've met told me that the hair cutting is for practical reasons so that their hair would interfere with combat but then I think why not just tie it back. It works for not just every Viking but ANY warrior with long hair. I'll still follow it because it has basically become tradition for shamans but still, why not tie it back.
Music then starts to play and everyone including me knew that the wedding was about to start so we all started to quiet down as Elise was walking down the aisle with her father.
In a whispered voice, William's mother said one last thing before shutting up.
"We'll talk more later but in any case, if my son likes you then I'll tolerate you. Understand"
I nod to her before turning my attention to the ceremony.
