Briar POV
I get dressed into some booty shorts and a tank top seeing as it is a really hot day, and then I do my hair and makeup. I love fashion as well as dance, if I wasn't a dancer I would probably try and get into modelling or something to do with the fashion industry.
I walk out of my house and start on the farm work. I have to do that, now that my dad won't do it himself. I think my father should sell the house, and all the land we own. He could get millions of dollars out of this. Our farm is absolutely beautiful, I don't see why it wouldn't sell. I understand that he feels like the farm is the only thing he has left of mum, I feel the same way. But how else will he ever move on?
I would definitely miss this place if we were to sell it. This is my home, and it always has been. I don't know what to do.
"Hey beauty." Elliot says, coming up behind me with Abbey.
"Hey E." I reply.
I lean in to kiss him, but he dodges it and hugs me instead. What just happened? Elliot has never done that to me before. He has always wanted my kisses. Never mind.
"Bri, what are we going to do today?" Abbey asks me.
"We?" I ask, surprised.
Abbey is fourteen years old, almost two years younger than me. Abbey and I aren't the closest of sisters. We used to be inseparable, but when mum died we separated. This is the first time she has wanted to do anything with me since that day.
"Me and you, Elliot can come too if he wants." She explains.
"We should ... go to the beach? Just like old times." I suggest.
"That's perfect, but we should finish all of this farm work first." Abbey says.
We work throughout the farm for two long hours, and then we are finally done. We go to the house and we get dressed into some beachy clothes. Then we walk back downstairs, but we are quickly stopped.
"Briar, a letter came for you in the mail." Dad tells me.
"Really? Its probably just some fan mail, I have been getting a lot of that lately. I'll check it out when we get back." I say.
"Its more than just fan mail." Dad explains.
I walk over to him and he passes me the letter. I unfold it and begin to read. I feel nervous about this.
Dear Ms Nolet,
I am writing to you to ask if you'd like to join the cast of TNS as an actor on the teenage dance show 'The Next Step'. You should know, I've always thought you were a very talented dancer and an amazing young woman. However, something unexpected happened.
My assistant and I were in your dance studio enjoying some stunning dance routines when we saw you dancing, your technique is unpickable.
It blew my assistant and I away. I haven't seen very many dancers your age with so much natural talent and potential.
So shocked was I, that I didn't realise that The Next Step needs a new actor/dancer to join the show. We would love for you to play the role of 'Richelle' on our show.
Taking the part will mean great things for your future. You will be given more acting and dancing opportunities and even some modelling opportunities.
There are a few off puts though. If you were to take the job, you would have to move to Toronto Canada. We will buy you a fully furnished house, but I understand that it might not be enough for you.
I hope you will take the job, so very much. We would love to have you as a part of TNS .
Thanks
The Next StepOh my god. This is so exciting ... but I don't know if I can take the job. My dad, my sister, my boyfriend. How can I leave them?
