As Connor sank down on the pavement, the cell phone tucked into Connor's hoodie pressed into his body.

Oh.

Connor took it out and opened it, searching for the phone contacts.

Daddy Murphy
Mommy Murphy
Sister Murphy
...

Plain and simple.

Connor clicked on Sister Murphy and chose the call option.

Now all he had to do was wait.

Hopefully.

If Zoe's class hadn't started yet.

Zoe's POV

Zoe adjusted her bag, skipping along with her parents as she neared the jazz guitar centre.

Briiiiing. Something in her pocket vibrated.

Zoe looked over and reached into the pocket of her jeans, slipping out the little phone.

Brother Murphy calling...

[A/N ok before y'all start asking why these two siblings have phones at such a young age, Connor and Zoe just have these phones with limited facilities and for simple purposes (like calling, messaging, and a few simple games), since their parents especially contact Connor frequently. They also won't worry so much about them this way.]

Zoe tensed up a little. What happened?

"Sweetie, you okay? Who's that?" Her mother's voice rang out. Zoe knew her mother was really protective about her and her brother's safety when they were using their phones-she always made sure all anonymous callers or messages were blocked or reported.

"It's just Connor." Zoe accepted the call.

Connor's POV

Connor was becoming increasingly anxious as the seconds ticked up. What if no one answered? Where would he go? He didn't know the way to the hospital and back-his parents had only brought him by car before.

Just then, the line crackled and his sister's voice came over the phone.

"Con?"

Connor heaved a sigh of relief.

"Zoe! Thank God. Anyway, I'm lost and I need help."

"Lost? Where are you? Aren't you in the orchard?" Connor heard Zoe lower her voice a little.

"No, it's a long story but I ended up at St. Lorraine's Hospital."

"HOSPITAL? CONNOR MURPHY, WHAT HAPPENED. DID YOU HURT YOURSELF." Zoe half-shrieked.

Connor sighed and hurriedly tried to calm his sister.

"No, I'll tell you when your class is over, okay?" Connor paused. "Are Mom and Dad still there?"

"Yea."

"Could you ask them if they meet me here? They probably already know how to bring me back from this place."

"Okay. Bye, gotta go now."

The line then cut off and Connor sat back down on the pavement, staring at the road.

Zoe's POV

Zoe slipped her phone back into her pocket and turned to face her parents.

"Mommy, Daddy, Connor needs help."

Cynthia's eyes widened and Larry's eyes flashed.

"What happened to him. Is he hurt?" They spoke simultaneously.

Zoe shook her head. "I don't think so, he said he wasn't. He says he asks if you could meet him at and bring him back from St. Lorraine's Hospital, because he ended up there somehow."

"Hospital..." Cynthia's eyes hardened. "If anyone made him end up there, I swear-"

She sighed, knelt down and hugged Zoe. "Run along now, your class is starting soon and I don't want you to be late. Your father and I will go for Connor."

Larry was already walking off and Cynthia turned and hurried after him.

Zoe, biting her lip in worry, stepped into the centre and walked to her jazz class.

Cynthia's POV

Cynthia sat in the car with Larry and spoke as he revved up the engine.

"Any idea what could have happened to Connor?"

Larry gripped the steering wheel tightly. "Why would I know? He suddenly calls up and says he's at a hospital. Would I know how he ended up there from home?" He paused, grip softening. "Unless he hurt himself somewhere else out there. Or he saw someone get(s) hurt and wanted to follow them, maybe to see if they were okay. Even if I don't see that as a possibility." He added. "Or maybe he hurt someone..."

"You're not implying our son hurt someone else, are you?" Cynthia snapped a little.

Larry looked down a little and said nothing.

(Time skip)

Connor's POV

Connor saw his parent's car from far off and stood up.

As soon as he hopped into the back seat, Cynthia started bombarding him with questions.

"Are you hurt?"

"No, mom. It wasn't me."

"Where were you then? How did you end up here?"

Connor stayed silent.

"You went out, didn't you?"

"You had us worried sick, Connor. No young kid runs off and ends up at a hospital for who knows what reason!" Larry put in.

"If I wasn't at the hospital and called Zoe, you wouldn't even know where I was or care anyway." Connor muttered, loud enough for his parents to hear.

Cynthia sighed. "Connor, please..."

"Yes, I wasn't at home! I went somewhere else that you don't need to know, okay? Then I accompanied a boy who injured his arm there to the hospital. That's how I ended up there. And by the way, I didn't do anything to him if you both were wondering. Enough?" Connor shrank into his seat a little.

Why did he always need to snap at mostly everyone who tried to talk to him?
