Chapter 3:
So, I just learned that the person I loved is in love with this person named Kieth. Kieth is a freshmen in our school just like Elah. Awkward. And so as I was going to sit in my chair I saw Cassandra running towards my direction I felt that she the world just stopped spinning and I imagined that she was going to hug me and kiss me say sorry for looking at other men and promised me that she will love me forever. But yet again that’s only my imagination I said to myself. So as she was coming closer towards me I’m beginning to fix my rumble-up image. I began to fixed my hair, sprayed a little perfume and began to check my breath if it is not too smelly. Then as she reached me we began to walk up to our classroom
“Hey Nath, I have someone that I like.” she just said.
“Well. That’s good” I replied.
“Who is it?” I asked her, although completely knowing who it was.
“Its Kieth. You know the freshmen in our school.” She said.
Of course its Kieth. The Kieth who ruins my lovely conversation with my Cassandra. The Kieth who stoles my Cassandra’s heart and the Kieth who unconsciously stole Cassandra’s interest in me. Ah Kieth.
“It must be nice to be in love, am I right?” I asked.
“Of course. How about you? Do you have someone you liked right now?” she replied.
“Not at the moment, but I think I should reconsider my feelings for her for now.” I said.
“Aw poor guy, I’m sure you’ll find someone soon.” She said.
Those words stuck to my head. ‘I’m sure you’ll find someone soon.’ I thought it was like a form of rejection like she was saying ‘Back-off I already have someone I like so you can turn around now and look for someone else.’
We got to our classroom just in time before the bell started to ring. I thought to myself that if she already has someone to love then I might as well look for someone else to love also. Just to forget about her and move-on with my high school life nice and easy. And so I’ve searched and searched until I’ve met Lizelle she’s a freshmen just like Kieth and Elah. Awkward. Then again this might as well worked I thought to myself because she’s the same age with Kieth and they have the same class. She befriended me and I thought this might be the sign that I can finally get over on Cassandra and move-on in the hands of Lizelle. Because after all a guy is got to move in right? But then again its not easy as it seems. I had some wild and fun time in the company of Lizelle but something inside of me misses the company of Cassandra more and more.
“Hey what’s wrong?” Lizelle asked
“Um me? Nothing, really nothing.” I replied. Spacing out.
“Yes you silly. No really, what is wrong with you Nath?” she asked feeling a little anxious about her pushing me that something is really wrong.
“Liz I can assure you that there is definitely nothing wrong about me.” I assured her.
“Nath can you just tell me the truth, please. Because I can feel that when every time we hang out it makes me feel like you want someone else on your side, its like your just using me to forget someone.” She replied looking worried.
“Liz” I sighed and continued. “I really love spending time with you, believe me I really am. But there is someone else I really need to spend a lot of time with and I’m not gonna find it in your company Liz. I’m sorry. I’m really sorry you can slap me, ignore me or even hate me after this but I just got to see her now.” I replied and with that I dashed away not looking back at Liz and just focused on going to see Cassandra just this one time even if she has already someone else she loves.
I was thinking about asking Lizelle to be my girlfriend just to forget all about the Cassandra thing but something inside of me is saying that this isn’t right, that I shouldn’t do this, that its not right to use people just to forget other people. So I’ve decided to just be friends with Lizelle and just continue to love Cassandra even though it hurts too much that as I’m beginning to fall more and more inlove with her, she becomes more and more in love with somebody else.
