Chapter 5:

Kieth was drawing closer and closer to our direction, every second feels like it has been ages since he started walking up to our path. When we finally met I can see in Cassandra’s expression that she really loved it when Kieth had passed her. Us I mean.

“Shit, did you see that? Nath did you see that?” she asked all hyped up and everything.

“What? See what? I didn’t see anything.” I replied acting all gloomy all of a sudden.

“What’s the problem with your eyes! Didn’t you see? It was Kieth, he just walks passed by us.” She said after slapping my back like a crazed sadist.

“Ouch. I don’t know what you’re talking about Cass. I don’t know and I don’t care.” I said feeling all the jealousy eating me up.

We got back to our classroom and we ate our snacks. We eat and talked. We’re like an image of a true couple but the reality was we’re not a couple. We’re just two friends who’ve just so happen to be sitting together and sharing our past experiences and for me this is just enough.

1st quarter exam is closing in and something inside of me feels like its gonna explode because the thought of being separated to Cassandra just makes me wanna punch someone right off the face. But sadly its still going to happen and I don’t have the power to stop what’s going to happen when our 1st quarterly exam ended. Many questions are running in to my mind right now, like “Am I gonna be far away from her?” “What will her future seatmates be like?” “Will she be okay?” the question almost like a boyfriend would use if his girlfriend will go somewhere far away.

“Nath can you teach me about this part, because I can’t quite get it yet. Please.” She said. Begging with those puppy eyes I just can’t resist.

“Sure Cass. Let me see that.”  I said looking at her notes. Shit her handwriting is beautiful as usual.

 “Here.” She said.

“Okay, for this problem you just got to use the distance formula.” I said. Trying to keep my cool.

“Oh, Hey you’re right and how about this one?” she asked drawing even more close to me. I can feel her breath. It felt hot and sexy at the same.

“Oh. T-This? Yo-You just g-g-got to have to use this formula, remember? The formula that’s taught to us the other day.” I said nervously. God I feel like a pervert right now.

“Thanks! And by the way, are you okay Nath? You kinda look like your sick? I think you should see a nurse right away.” She said looking worried.

“Nah, I’m good. Thanks.” I replied calmly, finally being able to gather up all my coolness.

And with that we just continued on with our little discussion. It felt just like we’re the only students who are in the classroom like nothing else even matters. But our little moment got interrupted when her best friend Zoe Park interrupted us. Zoe Park is a Foreign Exchange student in our class since our 1st year in our school, she’s kinda cool and has a bit of a bitchy personality. But overall she isn’t that half bad just don’t mess with her best friend; Cassandra.

She just slammed her hand into the table completely blocking me from Cassandra.

“Heeey! What ‘cha Doin’?” Zoe asked while staring at me menacingly.

“Oh you know, just studying for our exam. I have Nath here to teach me the parts that I didn’t quite understand. Right Nath?” Cassandra said while slapping my back as hard as she can. It kind of felt quite right for me this time.

“Yah, she’s right. We’re just studying.” I said nervously. Afraid of what Zoe might do to me. Because the fact that Cassandra and her are both sadist but Cassandra is sadist in a sweet way but Zoe, Zoe is just scary as fuck. Like one time when someone just bump her accidentally that guy just got beat up down to his core. Poor guy.

“Are you really sure that your just ‘ONLY’ studying? Because if you ever do or think something PERVY about my best friend I’ll beat you up to shreds. Got that?!” Zoe said threatening.

“Yes, Zo we’re just studying. Just go somewhere else okay? I’ll hang out with you later.” Cassandra said calmly as if trying to put down a fire before it can even be litted.

“Okay okay I trust you Cass, its HIM that I don’t trust.” Zoe said and with that she just goes away slowly. Putting up her two fingers to her eyes then to mine just like a mafia boss staring down at his enemies.

“Sorry about what happened here, I thought it’s going to be a little messed up around here at some point if I let her stay for just one second. Am I right?” she said looking a little shy.

“Nah its nothing, really. And by the way, thanks for sticking up for me Cass it means a lot to me.” I replied.

“No sweat, and welcome it’s the least I can do. Shall we go back to our studying?” she asked looking all good and sexy at the same time with her messy hair and all cramped up uniform.

“By the way how are things going between you and Kieth?” I asked out of the blue. I hoped she didn’t get weird upped by my question.

“Hmm, lets just say that I didn’t liked him like the way I used to.” She replied calmly.

“But I thou-.” She cut me off.

“Lets just leave it at that, okay?” she just said, looking away all at me all of a sudden.

It felt as if she has the same feelings as mine. But then again its only a thought, maybe I’m just misunderstanding this, maybe I’m overthinking too much but then again maybe just maybe she may have the same feelings as me and what I’ve learned in life that one of the hardest parts of life is deciding whether to just walk away with your feelings untold or choose to try harder and be able to prove it. I chose to try harder.
