I'm thinking of doing a spin-off based on Layla, what do you guys think? ;)
Also, play the song!As I approached the desk, suddenly the world started to whirl. Thankfully, I got to the table just in time to grab it for support. I clutched my head and looked around the room until my eyes landed on Trey. I scrunched my eyebrows together as my vision blurred and suddenly there were two of him. I reached forward and waved my hand through one of them. I brought my hand back and looked at it intently.
As one hand seemed to circled the other, I started to wonder if I was losing my mind. I sat down facing Trey and there was a frown on his face, as per usual.
"Does anyone else blonde live in your house?" I inquired dizzily, still seeing double. I could hardly think straight, the pounding in my head had gotten worse. I think I saw his hood shake, it was hard to tell. One, because he was wearing a hood. Two, because I could've been imagining it. "Then was that you I saw in the window of your house yesterday?"
"You were looking in the window of my house?" He asked, sounding creeped out. I didn't blame him, I would've found it creepy too if the guy I saw wasn't so hot.
"I was shutting the curtains," I paused as sharp pain flared through my right temple, "and I saw some hot blonde in the window." I probably wouldn't have said that either if I wasn't in unbearable pain.
"Are you alright?" He inquired, his voice low but concerned. Maybe he was just shocked because of my bluntness.
"Yeah," I said as a habit, "good enough, I guess." A casual smile made its way onto my face.
"So, are you that blonde?" I asked, resting my chin on my hands as I leaned on his desk.
"Uh- no, that's..." he stopped for a moment as if he had to think about it, "that's my brother, Troy."
I frowned in confusion. "You have a brother? Named Troy? Seriously?"
"Yeah," he coughed it out. I finally noticed that my head was no longer hurting and I smiled a little bit.
"I'll give your parents points for ingenuity," I said sarcastically as I laughed, leaning back in my chair. I was still a little dizzy, but it was better than that brain-splitting migraine.
"And I'll give yours points for originality," he replied, no longer changing his voice as if he'd forgotten to do it.
"Oh? And why's that?" I quirked a challenging eyebrow and crossed my arms over my chest.
"Your name is 'Amy', I'm pretty sure I could spin a generic name generator and that's the first one I'd get." He laughed at his own joke and for a moment, I forgot what I was going to say. It was so light, the opposite of the dark voice he always used. He threw his head back and his hood fell directly onto his face, landing just beyond his nose. I had a clear view of his full lips and defined jaw.
When he finished laughing, I coughed and cleared my mind. "Fair," I replied, chuckling a little.
"So why doesn't your brother go to school here?" I inquired suspiciously, squinting at him.
"He, uh-" he paused to cough, probably to fix his tone of voice and come up with something to reply, "-he goes to university."
"Oh?" I questioned, sounding impressed.
"Yeah." His voice was so low it basically sounded like a grunt.
"Which one? It must be here in Charlesteen because this town is at least two hours from any city," I reasoned as Trey started to fidget with his pencil again.
"Yes, of course," he murmured, deepening his voice sufficiently. If he went any lower I was afraid my ears wouldn't be able to pick up on his tone. "He goes to Charlesteen university."
A slow pulsating pain began in my right temple once more, but I ignored it. "Why are you lying to me, Trey?"
His lips remained in that permanent frown as he replied, "What makes you think I'm lying?"
"There is no Charlesteen University, there's a community college called 'McCloud Community College', but that's it." I smirked knowingly as his mouth parted while he tried to come up with an excuse or another lie. I was feeling some serious detective vibes and I felt like I was onto something. "What are you hiding, Trey Hollands?"
I leaned forward inquisitively and I placed my hands on his desk. "Nothing, you're just making secrets where there aren't any," he replied cooly although I knew I was making progress.
"Then what's with the hood?" I asked as I brought my hand up with the intention to flick it up a little for effect, but Trey's hand shot up and gripped my wrist tightly.
"Can you not just respect the fact that I want to wear the hood? It's important to me so why does it matter?" He let go of my hand and I brought it back down slowly, frowning.
"So will you help me with the project? My laptop is too slow to actually get any work done on my own," I explained, returning to what I'd originally come over to discuss. He seemed to be thinking it over while I sat there, waiting. Great subject change, Amy.
"Can we work on it in the computer lab after school?" He suggested, leaning back against his chair almost relaxedly.
"I have detention," I said sheepishly with a guilty smile.
"Tomorrow then?" He tried again.
Another apologetic smile made its way to my face as I replied, "I have the Stollery Club, sorry."
He frowned and tilted his head as if to say, really? I didn't blame him though. "We can work on it at lunch today and tomorrow if you want," I figured, an oddly hopeful smile on my face.
"Yeah sure, but I need about ten minutes to eat, my English teacher won't let me bring food into her class," he accepted, a strange quirk to his lips that I didn't recognize. A grin no matter how small seemed to look weird on what little of him I could see. I know I met him yesterday, but first impressions last. I didn't bother mentioning that I had a spare the period after lunch because I'd decided that it was irrelevant.
"Great, see you then." I smiled just as the bell rang. I got up and left the class feeling somewhat satisfied with myself.
