Chapter 6
Hermione’s POV
I stare at Fred trying to decide whether this is another of his pranks or whether he is serious.
“Are you telling me the truth?” I ask.
Fred nods. “Hermione I’ve never been more serious in my life.”
I gasp. “Oh my God.” I whisper.
“I’m sorry Hermione. I just thought that I should tell you.”
I nod. “It’s ok Fred. It’s just . . .”
He nods. “I get it.”
He stands up and walks to the door.
“Goodnight Hermione.”
“Fred wait. I-”
“Don’t worry about it. I was being ridiculous even thinking you might feel the same way. Goodnight.” He says and he leaves.
“But I do feel the same way.” I whisper once he’s gone.
Fred’s POV
As I leave her room, I hear Hermione whispering. The words aren’t very clear but I think I heard her say, ‘But I do feel the same way.’
My heart leaps but I chose to ignore it.
If she wanted to tell me that she loved me, then she’d tell me when she knew I could hear.
George’s POV
The next morning at breakfast, the tension is obvious.
“Hey Kiel. You want to go and look around Diagon Alley?” I ask.
Kiely nods eagerly. “Can I go Mummy?” She asks.
Hermione sighs but nods her head.
“As soon as you’ve finished your breakfast, we can leave. I’m sure Mr Ollivander would like to meet Mr Harry Potter’s Goddaughter.” I say.
“I’ve finished!” Kiely shouts eagerly.
“Get your coat.” Hermione says.
Kiely nods and runs to get her coat.
She comes back a few minutes later with her hat and scarf.
“Bye Mummy!” She says, hugging Hermione.
Hermione smiles slightly.
“Bye Daddy!” Kiely says, hugging Fred.
Fred smiles and I wink at him as Kiely and I leave the shop.
Fred’s POV
“So do you need any help in the shop?” Hermione asks.
I shake my head. “Hermione, listen, about last night . . .”
“Don’t worry about it. It doesn’t matter.”
“I heard what you said when I left.” I whisper.
She looks at me slowly and when I meet her eyes, she looks away quickly.
“I love you.” I say honestly.
She looks up at me and smiles shyly.
“I love you too.”
“So what do you say?” I ask. “How about giving us a go?”
She shrugs. “I’m not sure Fred. What happens if something goes wrong? Kiely can’t have parents that don’t talk. It’s not fair for her.”
I nod. “I know that’s not fair for her. But it’s also not fair for her to be the only one of her friends when she goes to school whose parents aren’t divorced, but have never tried being in a relationship.”
She nods. “I suppose you’re right.”
I smile. “Right. So it’s settled then. Tonight, I will get George to watch Kiely, and I will take you out for dinner in the muggle world.”
Hermione smiles. “It’s a date.”
