recap:
"What's something you're insecure about?" I read, then blush. "Um, I have no friends," I tell him, laughing.
"That's okay. At my old school I didn't have any friends either," He reassures me.
"But now you do?"
He nods, looking down at the table. "You"

As soon as those words left calum's mouth my cheeks turned beet red. i smiled though "your my friend too." i replied. Calum took the questions from my hand finding a question to ask. i saw his eyes light up as he began to speak "what's your biggest dream?" he questioned.
I thought for a short second before i answered "well i want to become a psychologist of some sort. I'd love to live somewhere big ya know get out of Tennessee." He gave my answer a thought before responding "Why psychology?" His eyebrows furrowed "I want to help people with real problems. if that makes sense. i like talking to people about their problems. it helps them but also makes me feel good." i said. He nodded "I don't really have a big dream. i just want to have a successful life." I looked up "That's understandable." i said as i got up and motioned for him to follow.
We walked silently to the old park that was right besides scoops. i sat down on the swing and Calum sat beside me. I looked down at the questions trying to find one to ask. "oh here's one. Where did you grow up?" i could see him tense up. I sat for a second before realizing that he's not gonna answer. "okay how about....Do you have any siblings?" i said. He just turned away and didn't answer. "Calum we are never gonna get this done if all you do is keep secrets. you can trust me." i said.
"You don't understand." he snapped as he got up to walk away. I got up after him "Why are you being rude now? Calum i didn't do anything." i said. He looked back at me "Just leave me alone i don't care about the stupid project." I was taken aback by the way he was acting "Calum why are you being like this?" i raised my voice but it was no use he was already gone.
I walked home alone wondering what i had said that was wrong. I felt bad because he was obviously hiding something that he regretted. I just wanted to be friends but i'm sure that's over with now. There's no way this project is getting done i thought as i got into my room.

I didn't sleep at all last night. I was up overthinking what i could've said that set Calum off. I was dreading to go to school today because i knew i would have to see Calum.
I pulled up into the school parking lot and got out. "Can we talk?" i heard from behind me. I turned around to see Calum. "Yeah" i said getting back in my car. Calum walked around and sat in the passenger seat. "I want to say i'm sorry for snapping at you yesterday." He looked at me sincerely. "It's okay" i replied with a small smile. "I want to tell you about my past but i don't want to be here when i tell you. Will you skip with me?" I looked at him "Calum i don't kno- He cut me off "Please i want to take you to secret spot of mine." I made eye contact with him as he begged "fine let's do it." i said getting up and letting him get into the drivers seat. "just don't kill me." He laughed.
We drove for about thirty minutes with the windows down and listening to the soft hum of the radio but when we finally stopped i realized why Calum kept this place a secret. It was close to the river and it had a rocky bank but it was secluded and their was a dock.
We were sitting on the dock when Calum broke the silence "Thanks for skipping with me i just didn't want to tell you all this in school." i looked at the water "you don't even have to tell me calum i don't want to make you uncomfortable." i said "i trust you though. i want to tell you. i need to get it off my chest." he took a deep breath "I used to live in Australia before i moved here. Something happened there though that's why i moved. I used to party a lot and one night i went to this party. I got way too drunk and i passed out but this whole time my parents were texting me asking me where i was. they were so worried that they came looking for me. They didn't get to find me though. They got in a car crash and it killed them both." He sobbed " I killed my own parents because i was irresponsible." I looked up at him "Calum i'm so sorry but you didn't kill them. You made a mistake but you didn't deserve that." i pulled him into a hug. "I will never forgive myself" He said while crying into my shoulder. I didn't say anything i just held him while he cried. I felt so bad. Calum was just a misunderstood kid he didn't deserve this.
He looked up at me after awhile "I need to leave. Let's get out of here." I nodded and stood up. I reached out my hand and pulled him up. "I know where we can go!" i smiled.
