Opening his eyes Izuku was met with the blurry sight of a clinically white ceiling with a sole brightly lit lightbulb. Trying to sit up, Izuku felt his entire body give out a scream of pain causing him to cease the attempt. His vision clearing up, Izuku looked down to his arms, both in slings, one in a cast, the other heavily bandaged. Gingerly Izuku tried to move them, both responding with a bolt of pain.
"Fractured right arm, broken left arm, concussion, internal bleeding, heavy lacerations – especially to the right side, spinal damage, fractured skull, three fractured ribs, blood loss and exhaustion."
Izuku looked, with great effort, towards the voice. It was Recovery Girl.
I'm in for an earful, aren't I?
Preparing for the verbal onslaught with a sigh, Izuku was struck by Recovery Girl's glare.
Scary!
"Why did you get involved? I don't believe Aizawa told you to fight. You're just lucky that I could stop the bleeding with what energy you had left, otherwise you wouldn't be here right now. Why did you do this?" lectured Recovery Girl.
Why?
Quick images of the dying man in the alleyway and Bakugo's bullying flashed through Izuku's mind.
Having a quirk, you'd never understand.
"I can't sit back while people get hurt in front of me." Whispered Izuku "Not again."
Oblivious to Izuku's words, Recovery Girl continued to lecture Izuku for what felt like an hour, until a murmur became audible stemming from the sickbay door.
"How did he even get there?" questioned Yaoyorozu's voice.
"You should have seen him fighting that monster, it was amazing" stated a particularly froggy voice
"Even so, it was irresponsible and reckless."
"You shouldn't encourage 'quirkless', he didn't really change anything after all." Growled Todoroki, failing to keep the animosity out of his voice.
"Doesn't the fact that he's quirkless make it more impressive though?" questioned Yaoyorozu for a second time.
"He didn't change anything. How is doing nothing, impre- "stated Todoroki, suddenly interrupted.
After a few knocks, Aizawa stepped into the room shutting the door behind him. His face covered in bandages, he loomed over Izuku's bed, only his eyes visible.
"Midoriya."
"Aizawa Sensei!" exclaimed Izuku, trying to clutch his side. Even excitement hurt.
With a sigh Aizawa, pulled out a chair and sat down next to Midoriya's bed.
"Thank you for your help."
Izuku became motionless, the moment searing itself into his brain, a pro hero was thanking him. Tears welling in his eyes, Izuku looked up to his teacher with a bright and cheerful smile.
Giving Izuku a moment, Aizawa watched as the broken boy tried to wipe the tears forming in his eyes, watching the boy's body lashing out in pain.
"But, if you ever do anything this reckless again, you will be expelled."
There's always a but, isn't there?
Placing Izuku's knife flat on the bedside table, Aizawa gave Izuku a solemn smile before getting up and walking to the door.
"Anyway, I think some people are here to see you."
Aizawa left the nurse's office only to be replaced with a swarm of Izuku's classmates who scrambled up to check up on him. Among them were the class vice president Yaoyorozu, froggy Tsuyu, pink skinned Ashido, the red head Kirishima, the class president Iida, Uraraka, a boy with black hair and strange elbows, a blonde boy with a tail and a floating set of clothes that went by the name Hagakure.
