Interviewer: "Hi Dylan! It is so good to have you here with us."
Dylan: "It is good to be here."
Interviewer: "Tell us about the movie you have coming out this fall."
Dylan: "It is a remake of the popular American movie, "Men in Black". It is set for modern times with more high tech gadgets and a different approach to aliens and extraterrestrials then the previous movie had. It is also set in China with an Asian cast so elements of Chinese culture will be present throughout the movie. While we pay homage to the Men in Black, this movie definitely stands on its own. Fans should be as excited to watch it as we all are to share it."
Interviewer: "What was your favorite part of the movie?"
Dylan: "All of the action scenes! I loved training for those and filming those. It was a lot of fun."
Interviewer: "There are some famous veteran actors working with you in this movie? How does that feel?"
Dylan: "It is an honor every time I get to work with a talented cast. It is very humbling to see the effort and the dedication that each puts forth in being able to capture their character and convey their stories. There is so much to learn from them and only more room to grow. You are always learning that you never stop learning. Plus, they are all very genuine, nice, thoughtful people. I am glad to be surrounded by them. When I was younger, I never thought I'd be doing this and to be able to touch the hearts of millions and for them to laugh and cry with my characters and their stories, it is an honor. I fall in love with my job more and more every day."
Interviewer: "You have now been acting for many years. How does it feel? How has it changed your life? Do you enjoy the fame?"
Dylan: "It still feels exciting because each project is a new challenge. Fame has never been a factor for me. I have never put any weight into that. Through my work, I have been able to travel to incredible places, meet incredible people and amazing fans, work with incredible people and make friends that last a lifetime. That has been the highlight for me. Fame is unimportant relative to that. Luckily I have an incredible group of friends, family and loved ones that keep me grounded and who are my support line, my life line when things get hectic. The support I have received from my fans has also meant a lot. Those are what is important."
Interviewer: "It has been seven years since the release of Meteor Garden, the series that propelled you into your career. How does it feel?"
Dylan: "It feels surreal that that much time has passed. It feels like just yesterday. I am so incredibly grateful for the show and everybody involved. It gave me so much. I look back on it now and it represents so many amazing memories. The love that people have had for it around the world has also been incredible. The global impact that it had was overwhelming. I hope that each of my projects have at least a fraction of the impact that Meteor Garden had."
Interviewer: "Meteor Garden is special to you in more ways then one, right? Because not only was it your debut acting role but it was here you met your now wife, Shen Yue?"
Dylan: nodding with a grin on his face "I truly owe it everything. It will forever be my favorite and most important project."
Interviewer: "How long have you two been married?"
Dylan: "Almost two years now."
Interviewer: "And how is married life? How does it feel."
Dylan: with a beaming grin on his face, looking fondly at his wedding rings. "We are both incredibly happy."
Interviewer: "Do you keep in contact with the rest of F4? The Meteor Garden cast?"
Dylan: "Of course. We are very close. Just last week, we went to see KanKan's directorial debut documentary. The week before that, we attended Wu Xi Ze's concert. And I have a tv series coming up with Kuan Hong which we are both excited for. We also talk often. I am also incredibly close with Dee Hsu, she is my older sister figure in real life too. We hang out constantly and she also attended our wedding. She met the rest of my family and both my parents and my brother agree that she is officially my older sister. Laughs"
Interviewer: "What, in your opinion, have been the most important projects you've worked on?"
Dylan: "Each project that I work on has a truly unique story and I am proud to be part of it. I enjoy playing roles that are a little bit physical and show that people are not who you thought they were. Characters who develop and grow and improve throughout the course of the series or the film. I like those dynamic characters rather then flat characters. However, in terms of importance, three big ones come to mind. Meteor Garden, not only because of obvious reasons, but because it is an iconic story of resilient and everlasting love. It tells the story of two people whose love for each other strengthened them and made them grow, allowing them to endure every hardship thereby allowing them in the end to truly value their happiness and their love for one another. Fratres in Aeternum, was a series of two brothers who only have each other and look out for each other as they face the ups and downs of life. Although it had several comedic elements, the relationship between the brothers was the key focus. For me, because I have a younger brother who is different from me in many ways, it served as a reminder to stay close with him, always support him and never let our relationship deteriorate. And the last would have to be, The Flower that Blooms in Adversity, because it is story between a mother and her son (my mother played by the amazing Dee Hsu) and between a son and his friends, set in Ancient China. It is a story about the importance of family, of self discovery, of friendship, of brotherhood, of sisterhood, of camaraderie. All three movies highlight that you are never alone and it is okay to have a support system, to lean on others and let them lean on you because you all succeed together. They are all important to me because at the end of the day, I value friends and family above anything else. That hasn't changed since becoming famous and it will never change."
Interviewer: "What are some things on your bucket list for the future?"
Dylan: "Hmmm... I'd love to fly in a super sonic jet. See the Northern Lights. Sleep in an Ice Hotel. Keep on traveling. I'd also really love to compete on the Amazing Race."
Interviewer: laughing "Who would you take with you?"
Dylan: "Either my brother, Wu Xi Ze or Kuan Hong. laughs I don't know, the Amazing Race could make or break a friendship. Maybe Amazing Race Junior first to train us up."
Interviewer: "One last question to wrap things up. How do you see your life right now?"
Dylan: "I am incredibly happy and blessed every second of every day."
Interviewer: "Well, thank you so much for appearing on our show and for your time! Good luck with the rest of your press tour."
Dylan: "Thank you!"
