A Sam Wilkinson Story

Chapter Six

Karissa's P.O.V.

I woke up to the sound of my alarm. 6 A.M. it read. This is exactly what i hated the most about tournaments. Waking up early was the most difficult thing. I usually lied there until my mom told me to wake up, but in this case, Mama Wilk woke me up with some food. This is why she'll always be my favorite. She knows exactly how to wake me up without having to make loud noises or any of that. I ate and then went to go change into my uniform along with my warm up suit. I made my way past Sam's room and took a peek in. I then realized he was awake when he said, "Karissa? Good Luck. Kick Butt!" I just smirked and said, "You too." And then Mama Wilk and I were off on our long day. We got to the facility and it was volleyball heaven. It was unbelievable. I literally had the facial expression of a little boy seeing candy in a candy shop. Our game schedule was quite scattered. We had games at 8 a.m., 11 a.m. , and 1 pm. Then we had a break until 5 p.m., which meant our next games were at 6 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. We reffed the 11 a.m game so we played 4 games total today. During the break we were allowed to go back to our hotels or go explore Chicago. It was totally up to us. My whole plan was to go surprise Sammy at his event. It was game time and the 8 a.m. set went by quick since we had a huge run on the other team. Reffing was the usual boring, but it was quick since the match didn't go to 3 games. The 1 p.m. game was pretty difficult, but it felt good making the winning kill of the entire set. We ended up winning in two and went into the second half of the day with 2-0. It was about 2:30, so I headed over to go visit Sammy. I went up to the hotel room to go clean up a bit and Mama Wilk suggested that i didn't change out of my uniform since i just had to change back into it. I took her advice and headed down to the event. I could hear tons of screaming fans from outside the backstage door. My cue to walk in was when Jack said, "Sammy we've got a surprise for you." Then Sammy being Sammy would think that the surprise is coming through the doors that the fans entered through, but in reality, I'd be entering through the backstage door. Then i heard my cue. I walked through the door and Sammy said to Jack,"What am I supposed to be looking for?" Then I stepped near him and said,"Me." I have never seen Sammy this happy to see me before.He ran up and hugged me tighter than he usually does. We all were rockng out to music on stage and then Jack G pulled out a chair for me to sit on while on stage. This is quite embarassing considering that I'm wearing my warm up suit and I'm sitting center stage. I don't know what's going on, and I didn't know this happened at Sammy's events. Sammy then starting speaking. "Karissa. I need to tell you something that I've kept from you since pre-k. I wanted to tell you that I've fallen in love." "And with who?" "My bestfriend, You. I've known this since we first met. I just never knew how to tell you. I always had a fear of this ruining our friendship, but I couldn't hold these feelings in anymore." Sam let out a deep breath that I'm pretty sure he was holding in for awhile. I'm actually speechless because I would have never guessed that Sammy felt this way about me. Then i realized, I actually was speechless because I hadn't answered Sammy for at least 3 minutes and everyone was waiting for my answer. "I feel the same way Sammy" I stood up from the chair and shyly said loud enough for the fans to "awh." Then it was like everything was falling into place. Sammy started walking towards me and leaned in pressing his lips to mine in a deep but quick kiss. We both pulled away, but Sam wrapped his arm around me and the smile on his face was the biggest i have ever seen it.
